Haworth, United Kingdom • 31 Dec 2025

Event overview

The Daleside Auld Lang Syne is a New Year’s Eve fell race held at Penistone Hill Country Park near Haworth, Keighley. Organised by Wharfedale Harriers, the event is a hilly, single-lap fell race with a distance of about 10.7–10.8 km (approximately 6.7 miles) and roughly 300 m (about 1,000 ft) of climb. The race is run under FRA rules. The entry fee is £14.00, entry is by pre-entry only, and the field is limited to 450 runners. There is a minimum age of 18. The event is sponsored by Daleside Brewery and participants receive a bottle of Daleside beer; coffee and biscuits are also mentioned.

Course and safety

The route starts at the quarry bottom on Penistone Hill and initially follows the Bronte Way. It passes the ruins of Middle Intake Farm, crosses a beck, climbs muddy ground toward Back Lane and Upper Heights farm, then goes on to the ruins of Top Withins and the summit of Delf Hill with its trig point. The descent crosses swampy ground and a small stone bridge before retracing outward sections to finish on the cricket pitch. The course can include mud, bogs and a stream crossing. Mandatory FRA kit is required, including waterproof whole body cover, hat, gloves and whistle; there may be random kit checks. Runners who abandon after number collection must notify the organiser. New for 2025: chip timing.
