We Need To Talk About Chevin (BM)

We Need To Talk About Chevin is a Category BM fell race organised by Great Owl Running. The course covers approximately 14 km with about 650 metres of ascent and runs on dirt, rocky ground, grass and footpaths. The race starts and finishes on Station Road with registration and post race refreshments at The Black Horse in Otley.

The route leaves Station Road and climbs immediately up Jonny Lane and the Chevin Steps to Surprise View, then descends to West Gate before climbing to the Danefield section and looping through Poolscar Wood. The eastern turning point is Fells Plantation where runners climb beside the power lines and return via Chevin Forest Park, Miller Lane and Jonny Lane back to Station Road. The course is partially marked; a map is provided and basic navigation skills are required.

Race information gives an entry limit of 200. Entry fees vary by affiliation and optional items; examples in the event information include affiliated and unaffiliated entry fees and optional Trees Not Tees pricing. A baggage store is provided. Race details note a water refill point at about 6 km and that a decision on mandatory kit will be made close to the event. Recommended items include suitable off road footwear, waterproofs, extra layer, compass, emergency food and a water container. The North of England Cross Country Championships come to Pontefract Race Course on 24 January 2026, with races for U13 to senior athletes on a challenging parkland course. Chip timing and club colours required, entries close 18 January.

Take on The Half & Half 10 km on 25 January 2026 at Sowerby Bridge for a split terrain challenge. Rugged muddy trails and obstacles give way to a tarmac finish, entries are limited to 100 and hoodies are available to pre order.
