Bowland Trail Half takes place on Saturday 10 January 2026 and is organised by Bowland Ultra. The event starts and finishes at Slaidburn Village Hall, Slaidburn, Clitheroe, BB7 3ES. Entry opens 1 July 2025 and closes 1 January 2026. The minimum age is 18 on the event date. Entries so far: 28 participants. Entry fees: affiliated entry £29 (rising to £35 from 01/11/2025) and unaffiliated entry £34 (rising to £39 from 01/11/2025). Affiliations accepted include membership with the Association of Running Clubs, Trail Runners Association, Fell Runners Association or UK Athletics.

Course and logistics

The route is an unmarked, mixed-surface course that uses vehicle tracks, technical singletrack, road and sections of bog. Runners receive a written route description and a map; a GPX route file is available on the race website and is sent in the final race email. There are marshals at key points but not at every junction. The course is approximately 13 miles (approx) with about 2,000 ft of ascent. A mandatory kit list is required for safety. Challenge yourself at the Litton Birks Fell Race in North Yorkshire on 15 November 2025, a tough 5 km senior course with about 362 m ascent on a new 2024 route. Junior races run from U9 to U17 and race HQ is the Queens Arms pub.

Take on the new Litton Birks fell race in the York Dales, a punchy 5 km with 362 m of climb and rewarding upland views. Pre entry and day entries available and junior races make this a great event for families and club runners.

Run the Arnside Knott Race on Sunday 16 November 2025: a scenic 6 mile fell run above Morecambe Bay and the Kent Estuary with about 1093 ft of ascent. Expect varied underfoot terrain and crisp autumn conditions for a true challenge.
