Bowland Trail Half 2026 : event overview

The Bowland Trail Half takes place on 10 January 2026 at Slaidburn Village Hall, Slaidburn, Clitheroe, BB7 3ES. The event is organised by Bowland Ultra and starts and finishes in Slaidburn. The route is roughly 13 miles (approx) with 2,000 ft ascent. The event raises funds for local foodbanks.

Course, support and safety

The course is unmarked and mixed terrain, including vehicle tracks, flowing trails, road sections and areas of bog and steep climbs. Runners follow a written route description and receive a map; a GPX route file is also made available. Marshals will be present at key locations but not at every junction. There is a mandatory kit list for safety. The organiser warns of possible winter conditions such as rain, ice, snow, high winds and frost. Runners receive a finish-line meal and a memento.

Entry, age and refund information

Entries open 1 July 2025 and close 1 January 2026. Minimum age is 18 or older. Entry fees are: Affiliated £35.00 and Unaffiliated £39.00. Recognised affiliations include Association of Running Clubs, Trail Runners Association, Fell Runners Association and UK Athletics. Entries shown in the listing indicate 85 participants so far. Refunds and transfers are allowed with conditions: transfers and refunds until 1 November (minus admin fees); refunds until 1 December minus 50%; from 1 December no refunds but transfers to another runner are allowed (admin fees apply). A winter waymarked trail challenge from Barley that follows the Pendle Way with a full ~45 mile course or a ~30 mile alternative, running over moorland and villages with multiple checkpoints and required winter kit.

A 75 mile NAV4 event from Skipton to Appleby over a two day weekend following Lady Anne’s Way, with tracked safety, three main indoor checkpoints, a drop bag system and self supported participation.

A long BL fell race around Wadsworth with navigational sections and mandatory FRA kit. The route is about 19.3 miles (31 km) with 1110 m ascent. Pre entry closes 6 February 2026 and very limited places may be available on the day.

Off-road event near Preston offering 10k and 11 mile routes across tracks and fields around Caldervale and the base of Beacon Fell country park. The 11 mile has a three hour cutoff and maps with three checkpoints are provided.
