The Montane Winter Spine is a grueling, non-stop 268-mile endurance race along the iconic Pennine Way, starting in Edale, Derbyshire, and finishing in Kirk Yetholm, Scottish Borders. Known as Britain’s most brutal endurance challenge, runners face over 10,000 meters of ascent through demanding terrain including the Peak District, Yorkshire Dales, Northumberland National Park, Hadrian’s Wall, and the Cheviots. Participants must complete the course within 168 hours, enduring harsh British winter conditions such as deep snow, storm-force winds, and driving rain.
