Cross Keys Road & Fell Relay

Cross Keys Road & Fell Relay takes place on Saturday 19 September 2026 at the Cross Keys Inn, Church Rd, Uppermill OL3 6LW. The event was originally designed to bring road and fell runners together so they could appreciate each other’s skills.

Teams of four runners compete in a relay that includes two road legs and two fell legs. Distances per leg are listed as:

  • Road leg 2 laps 3m 650ft
  • Fell leg 2.5m 800ft

The road legs are run as two laps of a hilly circuit. The fell leg is a single lap of an undulating course over Saddleworth Moor. Entry is by team and the entry fee is £20 per team. Entries open on 28 January 2026 and close on 18 September 2026. Registration takes place at the Cross Keys Inn in Uppermill.

Age and category rules vary by entry type. Entry is generally for those aged 18 or older, while a Junior category accepts ages 16 or 17. Listed categories include Men Open, Women Open, Mixed, Men Vets 40 and over, Women Vets 40 and over, Juniors, and Any combination entries which do not receive a prize. The event is organised by Saddleworth Runners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
