Cross Keys Road & Fell Relay

The Cross Keys Road & Fell Relay is a team relay for four runners held at the Cross Keys Inn in Uppermill, OL3 6LW. Each team completes two road legs and two fell legs so that road and fell running are combined in a single event.

Teams consist of four members. The route format is:

  • Road leg: two laps, about 3 miles, roughly 650 ft ascent
  • Fell leg: single lap, about 2.5 miles, roughly 800 ft ascent

Road legs use a hilly circuit completed twice. The fell leg is a single lap on an undulating course over Saddleworth Moor.

Categories are defined by gender and age and include Men Open, Women Open, Mixed, Men Vets (40+), Women Vets (40+), Juniors (ages 16 to 17), and Any Combination (no prize). Most categories require competitors aged 18 or older; some categories allow 16 or 17 year olds as noted.

Practical details from the organiser include an entry fee of £20 per team, entries opening on Wednesday 28 January 2026 and closing on Friday 18 September 2026, and registration taking place at the Cross Keys pub in Uppermill. The event is organised by Saddleworth Runners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
