Manchester - The One That Got Away

This is a timed running event at Hardy Farm, Manchester, held on Thursday 31 December 2026. Participants run laps of an out and back course along the River Mersey in Chorlton Water Park. Each lap measures 5.3 km (3.28 miles). The minimum distance is one lap, and participants may complete as many laps as they wish within a seven hour time limit.

Distances available include:

  • 5 km
  • 10 km
  • Half marathon
  • Marathon
  • Ultra distances

The course is off road on a riverside towpath with very little elevation gain or loss, making it largely flat. A race brief is sent one week before the event and is mandatory reading for all participants. A pick your own medal system applies; participants may request previously issued medals if available. All finishers receive a bespoke finisher medal. The first 90 participants receive a lightweight microfibre quick dry towel.

There is a vegetarian aid station available throughout the event offering many vegan options and some gluten free items, with snacks such as bananas, dates, jelly sweets, crisps, cake, squash and cola. Participants with severe allergies should bring their own food. Toilets and changing rooms are available at race headquarters. Parking is available for 75 cars at Hardy Farm on a first come first served basis, with additional parking across the river at Sale Water Park about a 15 minute walk away.
