Phoenix : Manchester - The One That Got Away

This event takes place on Thursday 31 December 2026 at Hardy Farm, Brookburn Road, Manchester M21 8FE. It is a timed, lap based event on a 5.3 km (3.28 mile) out and back course along the River Mersey in Chorlton Water Park.

Participants may complete as many or as few laps as they wish within a seven hour time limit. The minimum distance recorded is 3.28 miles. All finishers receive a bespoke finishers medal and there is a pick your own medal option; participants can check availability of previously issued medals in advance and, if available, will need to book the event to reserve them. The first 90 participants receive a Phoenix Manchester lightweight microfibre quick dry towel.

The course is off road trail on a riverside towpath with very little elevation change, making it a generally flat route. A race brief is sent one week before the event and is mandatory reading for all participants. Race HQ provides toilets and changing facilities.

A well stocked vegetarian aid station is available throughout the day with many vegan and gluten free options. Examples include bananas, dates, jelly sweets, crisps, cake, squash and full sugar cola. Participants with severe allergies should bring their own food due to possible cross contamination.

Parking is available for 75 cars at Hardy Farm on a first come, first served basis. Additional parking for up to 100 cars is available across the river at Sale Water Park, approximately a 15 minute walk from the start, with further public and paid parking around Chorlton Water Park.
