Trail Running calendar near Wasdale Head 2026-2027

Join the Whinlatter FRA Junior Championships for an exciting day of fell running in Whinlatter Forest Park. With distances ranging from 1.5 km to 5.6 km, this event caters to age groups from Under 10 to Seniors.

Chapelfell Top is a licensed fell race in St John’s Chapel, Weardale covering 7 km with 400 m ascent to a 703 m summit. The out and back course runs over track and open fell and requires navigation skills and compulsory kit.

Evening team relay at Golden Acre Park in Leeds on 14 July 2026. Teams of three run three 2.75 mile laps on an undulating trail; entry is limited to 150 teams and restricted to UKA affiliated club members.

A scenic multi-terrain 15 km race in Moffat with a steep mid-race climb and a long downhill finish, open and local prize categories, junior races and a tots dash for under 5s.

Experience a scenic 8 km trail run at Wirral Country Park as part of a competitive summer series. Open to those aged 16 and over, the event features age group trophies and rewards for series consistency.

A low cost and informal summer fell race in Great Langdale featuring an 8 km route to the summit of Pike of Blisco and an unconventional beer prizegiving.

A club relay event on Thursday 16 July at Derwenthaugh Country Park. Teams of three require at least one male and one female, entry fee £18 per team and limited parking at the race HQ.

An uphill only 6 km race with 850 m of ascent on 17 July 2026 in Patterdale, climbing Helvellyn via Swirral Edge. The course is fully marked, includes a manned checkpoint and a recycled paper mache medal.

Experience an extreme skyrunning challenge in the Lake District featuring 2700m of ascent and five graded scrambles. This technical race over the Helvellyn Massif requires proven climbing skills and a steady hand on the rock.

A 57 km mountain race from Patterdale with 3700 m of ascent across Striding Edge, Swirral Edge and Long Stile Edge. Open to runners aged 19 or older, the course is course marked and is not a vetted ultra route.

A classic distance Sky Race of 29 km and 2050 m ascent around St Sunday Crag in the Lake District on 18 July 2026, featuring technical trails, electronic timing, manned checkpoints and post race soup.

A semi technical 15 km trail around the base of Place Fell on the shores of Ullswater on 18 July 2026. The route includes 680 m of ascent, a mid way aid station and manned checkpoints.

Experience a 26 km trail race starting in the heart of Hebden Bridge. Run past Stoodley Pike on a marked course featuring moorland views and rocky trails with full marshal support and finisher medals.

A 10 km trail race at Northumberlandia that uses the landform and surrounding countryside. The event also includes a one mile children's fun run, a water station, a bespoke finisher medal and an event village.

A classic AM fell race to the summit of Ingleborough covering 11 km with 600 m of ascent during Ingleton's Gala day. Entries are limited to 250 with on the day places if the limit has not been reached.

Experience a focused fell race on the Isle of Man featuring a 4.5 km course with 150 meters of elevation. This Summer Hill league counter event starts from the Ardwhallan Outdoor Pursuit Centre.

Experience a 50 mile circuit through Wensleydale and Swaledale including an ascent of Great Shunner Fell. This traditional challenge event for runners and walkers features 5,500ft of climbing and a 22 hour time limit.

A 36 mile ultra on 18 July 2026 from Clitheroe Castle to Lancaster Castle across Lancashire, featuring six checkpoints, chip timing and live tracking. Entry is by pre-registration only, restricted to over 18s and has a 10 hour cut off.

Tackle 12.9 km of classic Pennine fell running with 610 m of climb around Turnslack. Friendly club atmosphere, on the day entries welcome, refreshments and prize giving in Calderbrook Church community rooms.
