The La Sportiva Lake District Mountain Trial is a classic mountain navigation fell race in the Lake District. The 2026 venue is to be confirmed. The event is run under Fell Runners Association rules and applicants are vetted for fell-running experience and navigational skill. Entry is by pre-entry only; the pre-entry fee is £30 with a £1.50 discount for use of a personal SportIdent card. Hot food, a pre-marked waterproof map and dibber hire are included in the entry fee.

Race format and other information

Electronic punching and scoring use the SportIdent system and interval starts are used. The event has a permit and UK Athletics insurance via the FRA. Teams are allowed. Minimum age for single runners is 18; 14 year olds may compete as part of a pair when accompanied by an adult on the Short course. There are no separate junior races.

Run classic Lake District fell country at the Blake Fell Race on 31 January 2026, a testing 9.5 km course with 429 m of climb around The Leaps. Entries are limited to 120 so book early for this spirited winter challenge.

Challenge yourself on a classic Lake District fell race from Ambleside, tackling 14 km with 880 m of ascent and spectacular views. Entry is on the day for £2 and competitors must be 18 or over, with a strict cut off at Loughrigg summit.
