Event Details

The Nant yr Arian Silver Trail Races take place on Saturday, 14 March 2026 in the Cambrian mountains. This is the event's ninth edition. The races are organized by Aberystwyth Athletic Club and are described as "not for profit," supporting local charities.

Distances

There are two main race distances:

  • Half Marathon
  • 10 km

Both routes are described as offering varied terrain suitable for beginners and experienced trail runners, with no cut-off time. The courses are fully signed and waymarked, with GPX files available. The Half Marathon has two feed stations, and the 10 km has one. Runners must carry a basic level of mandatory kit due to potentially adverse weather conditions in the mountains.

Junior Races

There are three separate junior race distances:

  • Under 7s run 0.5 mile (must be accompanied by an adult)
  • Ages 7-11 run 1.5 miles
  • Ages 12-16 run 2.6 miles

Registration and Fees

Entries open on Saturday, 22 March 2025 and close on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. Entry fees vary for UKA members and non-members. Transfers are only possible while entries are open; race deferrals are not possible.

Event Village

The event village is described as family-friendly with a local, non-corporate feel. Hot and cold food, specialty coffee, and healthy food options are available. Trail runs nearby

A tough trail half marathon in Aberdyfi with 850 meters of climbing. The scenic route runs through the UNESCO Dyfi Biosphere and along the Wales Coast Path. It's a UTMB Index Race for the 20K category.

UTMB Index

A 47 mile ultra from Barmouth to Llanidloes that follows National Cycle Route 8 and forms Day 3 of the six day CYMRUN series. Entrant numbers are limited and a 4 mph minimum average pace is enforced.

A circular 30 mile ultra through mid Wales on 2 May 2026, starting and finishing at Dol Lys Camp Ground in Llanidloes. The route follows Sarn, Glyndwr’s Way, Severn Way and Wye Valley Walk and reaches the source of the River Severn.

Ultra Wales 50 is a 51 mile mountain and trail race in Coed y Brenin and southern Snowdonia on 20 June 2026. The route features live GPS tracking, six staffed checkpoints with refreshments and a 20 hour cut off.
