The Loop Ultra - Dolanog

Event overview

The Loop Ultra is a trail running event on Saturday 10 October 2026 centred at Camp Plas, Plas Dolanog, Welshpool (SY21 0NA) in the Cambrian Mountains. The main distance is 32 Miles (50 km). The route uses trails, forest tracks and ancient paths and passes near Lake Vrynwy, often skirting the Glyndwr Way, with views toward the Shropshire Hills and southern Snowdonia. The field is capped at 100 runners. Minimum age is 17. Entry fee is £85. The published cut off time for the 32-mile course is 14 hours. The course is fully marked and supported by back runners and rangers. The event is canicross friendly; dogs must be at least 12 months old, fit to run, kept on a lead and are the responsibility of their owners. Canicross participants are not eligible for overall trophies.

Logistics and facilities

Camp Plas will be used exclusively for the weekend and offers camping, Field Bell Tents and log cabins with toilets and showers for on-site residents. Facilities listed include stocked checkpoints with food and drink (including vegan options), a full medical team, refreshments, BBQ and bar with locally sourced produce, live local music in the barn, wild swimming, paddle boarding and an outdoor sauna where available. Parking is free for campers; a day parking charge applies for others. Limited phone signal is expected and some extras require cash payment.

Mandatory kit and safety

Mandatory kit includes a waterproof jacket and trousers, race vest/pack, synthetic or merino base layer, capacity to carry 1 litre of fluid, emergency food, map or downloaded GPX, fully charged mobile phone and power pack, hat and gloves, appropriate trail footwear, basic first aid items, foil blanket, reusable cup, head torch, whistle and spare batteries. A full kit check will be undertaken at registration and spontaneous checks may occur on the route. No entrant will be allowed to participate without the full kit.
