The Loop Ultra - 32 Mile Trail event

The Loop Ultra is a listed 32 mile (50 km) trail running event based at Camp Plas near the village of Dolanog in the Cambrian Mountains of Mid Wales. The route uses trails, forest tracks and ancient paths and passes near Lake Vrynwy and sections that skirt the Glyndwr Way, with views toward the Shropshire Hills and southern Snowdonia. The course is fully marked and supported by back runners and rangers.

The event is capped at 100 runners to reflect its emphasis on sustainability. A generous cut off time of 14 hours is applied. Checkpoints and three refuel zones are provided; they are described as well stocked with items such as fruit, snacks, electrolytes, water and options for dietary requirements including vegan. A full medical team and first aid support are listed.

Camp Plas offers exclusive weekend camping and a range of on-site facilities including Field Bell Tents, log cabins, toilets and showers. Weekend activities listed include a pre-race barbecue, live local music in the barn, lake paddle boarding, an outdoor mobile sauna, yoga sessions and opportunities for wild bathing by the River Vrynwy. Camping rules, limited phone signal and on-site parking arrangements are noted.

A detailed mandatory kit list is enforced. No entrant may participate without the complete kit; kit checks are carried out at registration and during the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
