The Loop Ultra is a 32 mile (about 50 km) trail running event held on Saturday 10 October 2026. The route starts and finishes at Camp Plas, Plas Dolanog (Welshpool, SY21 0NA) and runs on trails, forest tracks and ancient paths toward Lake Vrynwy, often skirting the Glyndwr Way. The course is fully marked and supported by back runners and rangers. Entry is limited to 100 participants and the stated entry fee is £85. Minimum age to enter is 17.

Logistics, facilities and support

The event uses Camp Plas as a base and offers exclusive camping, bell tents and log cabins with toilets and showers for on-site guests. Non-campers have access to porta-loos; campers have free parking while a day-parking charge is applied for others. On-site activities listed for the weekend include a pre-race barbecue, post-race live music in the barn, paddle boarding, wild swimming and an outdoor sauna where available. Checkpoints are described as well stocked, with three refuel zones providing snacks, drinks and options for dietary requirements.

Rules and kit

A mandatory kit list is enforced and a full kit check will be carried out at registration, with spontaneous checks on the route. Required items include waterproofs, race vest/pack, capacity for 1 litre of fluid, emergency food, map or downloaded GPX, charged mobile phone and power pack, appropriate footwear, first aid items, foil blanket, reusable cup, head torch, whistle and spare batteries.
