Trail Running calendar near Ganllwyd 2026-2027

A winter trail event at Dare Valley Country Park on 12 December 2026 offering 34 miles, 26 miles and 13 miles routes through Afan Forest, Rhigos and Coed Morgannwg Way with marked trails, timing and GPS tracking.

Trail runs at Wyre Forest on 13 December 2026 include a family one mile plus 5 km and 10 km options, with canicross on the 5 km and 10 km. Finishers receive medals and seasonal refreshments.

A pre Christmas trail run on Moel Famau from Bwlch Penbarras that keeps the distance a surprise. The course is between 6 and 12 kilometres, includes hills and varied terrain, and finishes with a mince pie and festive medal.

A December fell race on Skirrid of about 5.7 km with 450 m of ascent, based at the Skirrid Inn near Llanvihangel Crucorny. Entry costs £10, competitors must be over 16, and the event includes a kit dump and spot prizes.

A family run festive four mile fancy dress run in Horwich on 20 December 2026. Chip timing, a Christmas themed trinket and costume prizes are included and the route is fully marshalled on local roads and paths.

A Boxing Day fell event at Stiperstones Inn near Minsterley, covering 4.8 km with 244 m climb. Partially marked course with limited experience required; online entries for recorded times and proceeds go to Severn Hospice.

Trail runs along the Mortimer Trail between Ludlow and Kington on Sunday 27 December 2026. Two distances are offered: an around 30 mile multi terrain ultra and a half that follows the final section starting at Riverside Inn, Aymestrey.

A downhill fell race of 4 km from Moel Famau summit to Cilcain with about 350 m descent. The route is partially marked, for competitors over 16, and is insured by the WFRA; donations are collected at the White Horse in Cilcain.

A two hour night navigation event near Rosebush featuring a *16 km* woodland route with 660 m climb, a pre-marked map, compulsory kit and required navigation experience. Entry is online with a £10 fee.

A 7-mile New Year's Eve fell race from The Little Tea Room in Rivington with a live bagpiper send-off, a pint and pie for finishers, and a post-race prize presentation and party at The Crown Pub in Horwich.

Timed laps along a flat riverside towpath at Hardy Farm with flexible distances and a pick your own medal. A vegetarian aid station runs all day and the first 90 participants receive a microfibre towel.

A 5k multi terrain loop from the caravan park and cafe at Llanbenwch near Ruthin. The route mixes minor roads and trails, is electronically timed, awards category prizes and gives all finishers a medal.

Navigate the terrain of Cannock Chase in this 27 km fell race starting from Milford Common. Participants must use navigation skills across a 540 m climb with full FRA kit required for the journey.

A night trail at Rivington with a UFO themed final round of the Petzl Night Runner Series. Offers a 10k and a Half Marathon plus a free 1k kids event, reflective course and head torch required.

A 12-hour Backyard Ultra near Crickhowell on a 4.167 mile loop split between trail and tarmac. First eleven loops are hourly, the twelfth is a race, with loop medals, a 32-mile ultra medal, and a trophy for the winner.

A 50 mile trail ultramarathon near Chester with 849 m ascent, seven checkpoints and a 17 hour cut off. The race is licenced by the Trail Running Association, awards ITRA and UTMB index points and requires prior marathon completion.

A 7 hour Time Challenge at Dare Valley Country Park on 28 February 2027 offering flexible distances from 3 km up to ultra and 50 km, with medals, distance pins, goody bags and on-course aid at each lap.

Trail ultramarathon in the Black Mountains based in Crickhowell offering 10, 20 and 40 mile routes with marked courses and GPX files. Canicross friendly; mandatory kit and entry via SiEntries with set fees and age limits.

Trail races at Loggerheads Country Park in March 2027 offering 5k, 5k canicross and a new 10km route. Varied terrain, riverside paths and a staircase section add distinctive challenges.
