The Cannock Chase Trig Points race is an off-road fell event held on Sunday 11 January 2026 in the Milford Common / Milford Hall Cricket Club area, Stafford (ST17 0UL). The course is approximately 26.5 km with 540 m of total ascent and is FRA category CL. Entry is by pre-entry through the SI Entries system and the minimum age is 18. The event uses SI timing and results are published on the Mercia website. Parking, registration, changing rooms and post-race refreshments are based at Milford Hall Cricket Club.

Course and rules

The course is unmarked and requires self-navigation. Runners must visit the checkpoints in order and return to Milford Common to finish. Checkpoints are: Start Milford Common (GR 975 210), Rifle Range (995 180), Moors Gorse (025 151) - outward-leg cut-off at 65 minutes, Castle Ring (043 128), Moors Gorse again (025 151), Glacial Boulder (980 181), then finish Milford Common (975 210). A 2 minute time-out is used both ways at Moors Gorse for a safe road crossing. SI dibbers are issued at registration; lost or unreturned dibbers incur a £40 charge. FRA mandatory kit - waterproof body cover (top and trousers), hat, gloves, map, compass and whistle - must be carried or worn and will be checked.
