The Railway Ultra

The Railway Ultra is a multi-distance running event on 25 July 2026 that follows a disused railway line along the banks of the River Severn between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth. The route runs out-and-back laps of 9.4 miles, and there is a well-stocked aid station approximately every 4.7 miles. The event uses a 7 hour cut off.

Entry fees range from £28 to £42. Published prices include: 9 Miles £28, Half Marathon £35, 19 Miles £36, 28 Miles £40, and 37 Miles £42. Some distances have minimum age requirements: the 28 and 37 mile ultras are open to entrants aged 18 and over on the event date; the half marathon is open to entrants aged 17 and over.

Location and facilities

Event headquarters is located at TF8 7JF on the disused railway behind The Woodbridge Public House in Coalport, Telford. Parking is available a 10 minute walk away at the Coalport China Museum and Coalport YHA; charges apply. Several pubs and a youth hostel are within about 1 mile of the start: The Woodbridge Inn, The Shakespeare (with rooms), The Brewery, The Boat Inn, and the Coalport YHA.
