The Railway Ultra

The Railway Ultra is a multi-distance running event held on the banks of the River Severn. The course follows a disused railway line between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth, featuring views of the river and historical sites from the area's industrial heritage. This flat course consists of out-and-back laps, with each full lap measuring 9.4 miles.

Participants can choose from several distance options:

  • 9 miles
  • 13.1 miles (Half Marathon)
  • 19 miles (3/4 Marathon)
  • 28 miles
  • 37 miles

The event includes a seven-hour cutoff time for all participants. Support is provided through aid stations located every 4.7 miles along the route. The event headquarters is situated on the disused railway behind The Woodbridge Public House in Coalport.

Paid parking is available at the Coalport China Museum and the Coalport YHA, both of which are approximately a 10-minute walk from the start line. For those staying overnight, several establishments are located within one mile of the event, including the Coalport YHA, The Shakespeare, The Brewery, and The Boat Inn. The 28-mile and 37-mile distances are open to participants aged 18 and over, while the half marathon is open to those aged 17 and over.
