The Joust 6hr, 12hr & 24hr
The Joust is an off‑road ultra event held at Top Barn Campsite (WR6 6NH) on private farmland. The race is run over a looped course of about 5.6 miles that follows parts of the Severn Way, then returns via fields, footpaths and very quiet lanes. The route is well marked, marshalled and relatively flat, and the organisers provide several drinking water points including three water stations on the course.
There are three timed race options run over the same looped route: a 24 hour event with solo and relay categories, and 12 hour and 6 hour events available to solo competitors only. Relay teams must complete a full lap before handing over the relay baton; teams may not change members after the event begins. Any lap not concluded within the event period is not counted.
Camping at Top Barn is included in the entry fee for competitors for the two race nights. Facilities on site include showers, toilets, electrical hook‑ups for a fee, a farm shop and on‑site catering. Organisers provide technical T‑shirts, caps or mugs and medals; solo J24 runners who exceed 100 miles and teams exceeding 200 miles receive commemorative buckles. A separate kiddies race runs for one hour in the afternoon, includes an inflatable obstacle and lap bands, and requires parental supervision.
Mandatory kit checks include a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, a whistle and a mobile phone. Volunteers and a limited number of noncompetitive night supporters are used to assist competitors during dark hours. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
