Celtic Trail Races

The event takes place on December 12, 2026 at Dare Valley Country Park. It is in its seventh year. The event features three winter trail race distances. The routes are fully marked.

There are three race distances:

  • Ultra (34 mile / ~55 km): A circular route starting and finishing at Dare Valley Country Park, with 5,850 ft of ascent.
  • Marathon (26 mile / ~42 km): A circular route starting and finishing at Dare Valley Country Park, with 4,200 ft of ascent.
  • Half Marathon (13 mile / ~21 km): A linear route from Resolven to Dare Valley Country Park, with 2,200 ft of ascent.

All routes pass through the Afan Forest and the Rhigos mountain range. They finish on the high-level trails of the Coed Morgannwg Way. The course includes sharp climbs, long descents, river crossings, and remote single track. Runners will pass reservoirs, ancient woodland, wind turbines, and views of the Brecon Beacons National Park.

The entry fee includes a finisher's medal, mince pies at the finish, free race photographs, physiotherapy and first aid, electronic timing, and checkpoints with refreshments.
