Celtic Trail Races

The Celtic Trail Races take place around Afan Forest and the Rhigos mountain range, finishing at Dare Valley Country Park on the Coed Morgannwg Way. The event offers three fully marked trail races and has been held for several years.

Terrain includes sharp climbs, long flowing descents, river crossings and remote-feeling single track. Routes pass through reservoirs, ancient woodland, wind turbine sites and provide views across the Brecon Beacons National Park. All races finish with a descent into Dare Valley Country Park where the finish area has a festive atmosphere.

Practical support on course includes checkpoints with refreshments, physiotherapy and emergency first aid cover. Timing and safety tracking are provided: electronic timing and safety tracking for the half marathon, GPS tracking and timing for the marathon and ultra. Participants receive a finishers medal, free race photographs, and a GPS file plus marked route and map. The event is run with land permits and organised by the race team.
