Trails & Tarmac 12hr BYU - Winter

This event is a Backyard Ultra held near Crickhowell in the Black Mountains and organised as part of the Limitless Trails BYU series. The course uses a 4.167 mile loop that combines trail and tarmac surfaces, with one gradual climb, a short steep section, and otherwise relatively flat terrain.

The format follows the standard backyard ultra structure. Competitors must complete the first eleven loops within the hourly time limit; the twelfth yard is a raced final loop. The event has an overall cap of twelve hours. The winner is the fastest runner on the final loop. Medals are awarded to anyone completing a yard, with a special medal for those reaching 32 miles.

Basic services include feed and water stations, additional hot food after the fifth yard, on-site medics, showers, and toilets. Event photographers will be present during daylight hours and images will be available to download after the event. Parking at headquarters is charged at £5 and includes entry to a separate free event with distance of choice.

Key entry details: minimum age 17, entry fee £75. Entries open 19 March 2026 and close 4 February 2027. The event publishes results showing distance covered for each competitor. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
