Great British Bake Run - Wales

The Great British Bake Run at Dare Valley Country Park is a 7 hour time challenge held on well maintained footpaths around the park. The course offers views of the surrounding countryside and is described as suitable for road trainers. The regular lap measures 4.37 miles or 7 km but may be changed to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. The event is subject to UK Athletics age restrictions and is licensed by the Trail Running Association and run under UK Athletics rules.

Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal; distance pins are awarded for half-marathon distance and above. The event includes a baking competition with prizes for best tasting, best looking and best effort cakes, with entries placed on the aid table for runners. Aid stations at the start/finish of each lap provide drinks, savoury and sweet snacks including vegan options and ice cream. Finishers receive a goody bag with a vegan alternative available.

Venue facilities include toilets and a cafe; there are no separate changing rooms or showers. Free parking is available. A bag drop is provided but is not secure. Bone conducting headphones only are permitted. Members receive a lower entry price and guaranteed entry; UK Athletics affiliated club members receive a £2.00 entry discount. Trail races on the private Merthyr Mawr Estate within Merthyr Mawr Warren National Nature Reserve, featuring a 12K course and a new 40K route that extends along the Glamorgan Heritage Coast.

Three coastal trail races follow the Wales Coast Path to a shared finish at Cardiff Bay, offering 100 miles, 50 miles and 30 miles routes with marked navigation, checkpoints and drop bag support.

A 100 km race on the Beacons Way through the Brecon Beacons with 3,178 m ascent. Self-navigation with map and compass is mandatory and entrants must meet qualifying experience and kit requirements.

A 100 mile self navigation ultramarathon across the Brecon Beacons with 6143 m ascent, 10 staffed checkpoints, mandatory map and compass skills, GPS tracking and UTMB and ITRA points.
