Llanthony Show Fell Race

Llanthony, United Kingdom • 1 Aug 2026

Llanthony Show Fell Race

The event is centred on Llanthony Show Ground (grid SO289275) and forms part of the wider Llanthony Show. The senior fell race covers approximately 6.3 km (3.9 miles) with an ascent of about 350 m (1150 ft). Race entry contributes to the show's first aid fund.

The route starts and finishes on the show field and crosses other fields before climbing through steep farmland. A stile leads onto open fell where a narrow path runs through high bracken, partly along an old broken wall. Runners then continue over heather and bilberry onto Offa's Dyke path, follow a rocky section back toward Llanthony, and descend a steep, often rutted, field route to return to the event field. Most of the route is waymarked and some clearance is made through the bracken on the ascent.

Junior races run on the day at a range of distances and ascents:

  • Senior: 6.3 km, 350 m ascent
  • U7 & U9: 1 km, 50 m ascent
  • U11: 1.8 km, 130 m ascent
  • U13: 2.9 km, 225 m ascent
  • U15: 4.4 km, 325 m ascent

Entry is on the day; the show has a separate admission fee. Access is via narrow lanes, and show traffic can cause congestion. The show includes other activities such as livestock and equestrian classes, food stalls, and traditional side events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
