St David's Day Dragon Run 2027 at Dare Valley Country Park
This is a time-challenge running event held at Dare Valley Country Park in Aberdare, Wales. The format is a 7 hour Time Challenge that lets participants choose how many laps to complete; the minimum recognised finish distance is 3 km. The lap is listed as 7 km (4.37 miles) but may be changed to a shorter loop of 3.28 miles depending on course conditions. The course is on well maintained footpaths with views of the surrounding countryside.
The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. Entry prices range from £18 to £35; a reduced entry price of £10 is available for members and members also receive guaranteed entry plus a mini-me medal pin. Runners who belong to a UK Athletics affiliated club receive a £2 discount.
Medals are awarded to all finishers who complete at least 3 km, and distance pins are available for half marathon and longer achievements. Finishers receive a goody bag with a vegan option. An aid and drinks table is provided at the start and finish of each lap with a selection of savoury, sweet, fruit, cheese and vegan items.
Venue facilities include toilets and a nearby cafe; there are no separate changing rooms or showers. Free parking is available. Bone conducting headphones only are permitted. A non-secure bag drop is provided at the start and finish area.
