St David's Day Dragon Run 2027

Saturn Running stages the St David's Day Dragon Run at Dare Valley Country Park in Dare, Aberdare, Wales. The event is a 7 hour Time Challenge that lets participants choose their distance; the minimum distance to be an official finisher is 3 km.

A full lap is 4.37 miles or 7 km, though the lap may change to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. The course includes 3 km and 5 km turn points to accommodate UK Athletics age rules. It is three laps for a half marathon, six laps for a marathon, seven or more laps for an ultra, and a 50 km distance is available.

The route runs on well maintained footpaths within the park and offers views of the surrounding countryside. Aid and drinks tables are provided at the start and finish of each lap with savoury, sweet, fruit, cheese and vegan options. Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a medal; distance pins are awarded for half marathon and longer distances and are attached to the medal ribbon.

Facilities include toilets and a nearby cafe; there are no separate changing rooms or showers. Free parking is available. A bag drop is provided but is not secure. Bone conducting headphones only are allowed. Number pick up is on the day at race registration. The event is organised by Saturn Too Limited, a franchise partner of Saturn Running.
