A Boxing Day fell race in Totley covering 7.8 km with 270 m ascent across moorland and woods. Entry is £8 and proceeds support S6 foodbank and Edale Mountain Rescue; full winter kit is required.

A traditional Boxing Day fell event near Minsterley, Shropshire, with a 4.8 km course and 244 m of climb on a partially marked route. Modest entry fees apply and proceeds go to the Severn Hospice; walkers and families are welcome.

Whinberry Naze is a festive fell race in Rawtenstall on Sat 26 Dec 2026 covering 6.4 km with 229 m of ascent. Entry on the day costs £6 and there are prizes for fancy dress.

A downhill fell race of 4 km from Moel Famau summit to Cilcain with about 350 m descent. The route is partially marked, for competitors over 16, and is insured by the WFRA; donations are collected at the White Horse in Cilcain.

A blindfolded navigation challenge in Skipton where participants are dropped at unknown locations and must return on foot; options cover 6, 10 and 15 miles and live GPS tracking is available as an optional safety feature.

Bracing winter fell race around Bilberry Fields in Todmorden, offering scenic South West Pennine views and a testing 4.6 mile route with plenty of climb. Friendly club atmosphere with cheap pre entry and on the day entry available.

A Christmas Shakeout run organised by DalesRunner on Sunday 29th December in the Northern Yorkshire Dales, presented as a seasonal trail run on marked routes within the DalesRunner event programme.

Celebrate New Year's Eve with the Wormstones fell race in the Peak District, an energetic 8 km with about 400 m of climb. Join at The Beehive in Glossop on 31 Dec 2026 for tough trails, great company and curry after the run.

A lap based Phoenix Running event at Hardy Farm, Manchester on 31 December 2026 with distances from 5 km to ultra along a flat riverside towpath. Pick your own medal options and a towel for the first 90 participants.

A winter trail event in Mortimer Forest offering an approximately 10-mile mixed-terrain race and a shorter 4-mile route, both featuring a climb to High Vinnalls, muddy trails, and a downhill finish with long-range views.

January 2027

The 20th Hangover Hike on 1 January 2027 starts and finishes at The Leggers Inn in Dewsbury, offering circular routes of 21, 13 and 10 miles with checkpoint refreshments and a finisher certificate.

A winter multi-stage trail run in Sheffield with 11 timed stages and 20 km of timed trails within a 24 km route. Stage and overall times are recorded promptly and entries are available for solo runners or pairs.

Trail races in Otley on 2 January 2027 offering Half Marathon (14.0 miles) and Marathon (26.2 miles) on the Green Gateways route with checkpoints, trackers and mandatory kit. Maximum 200 entrants, minimum age 18.

The Moonriver - Night Race will take place in Ashbourne on Friday 8 January 2027. You can run 10 kilometers.

Trail races across the grounds of Harewood House offering 5km, 10km and half marathon distances with age minimums. Canicross welcome; live chip timing, finisher medal, merchandise and free parking.

A winter trail event near Lancaster with an unmarked mixed-surface ultra and a trail half that share start and finish. Routes include tracks, trails, road, icy and boggy sections, and the event raises funds for charity.

The Bowland Trail Half will take place in Slaidburn on Saturday 9 January 2027. You can run 13 miles.

A 5k multi terrain loop from the caravan park and cafe at Llanbenwch near Ruthin. The route mixes minor roads and trails, is electronically timed, awards category prizes and gives all finishers a medal.
