Thieveley Pike Fell Race

The Thieveley Pike Fell Race takes place on Saturday 26th September. It is a category AS fell race. The course is 4.3 miles (7 km) long with 1310 ft (400 m) of ascent.

Registration is at St John’s Church Hall in Holme, Chapel-in-Cliviger, near Burnley (BB10 4SU). The race starts in a field next to the Ram Inn, about 100 meters along the road towards Todmorden from the village hall.

The route follows the Mary Towneley Loop to Scout Farm, then takes a sharp left up a steep climb to the moor. It levels off towards a ruin before crossing fields and rough moorland for the climb to the Pike. After the trig point, there is a fast grassy descent, a technical drop to a fell gate, a section through a young plantation, and a final steep section back to the ruin. A second descent leads to a bridleway for the finish back at the start field.

Kit requirements will be decided on race day, but runners are asked to bring full waterproof body cover. The course is flagged and marshaled.

Prizes are awarded to the first five men and first five ladies, as well as the first U23 man and U23 lady. Veterans' prizes are awarded in 10-year age categories. Entry fees are £6 for FRA members and £8 for non-members, payable on the day.

Parking is available on the road towards Todmorden or in the village. Participants are asked not to park in front of the school or on the Ram Inn car park unless using the pub. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
