Event overview

The MTC Severn Path Ultra is a point-to-point ultra running event held over approximately 59 miles. The 10th edition finishes in Worcester and has a total ascent of 786 m and descent of 816 m. The standard solo entry fee is £90. Deposits and entry payments are non-refundable. A personal cancellation insurance option is offered at booking and a one-year deferral can be taken for £15 up to four weeks before the race.

Route and support

The course starts at the Premier Inn, Shrewsbury, SY1 1PG, and finishes at Travelodge Worcester, WR1 2QS. The route largely follows the River Severn through towns and landmarks including Atcham, Cressage, Ironbridge, Coalport, Apley Forge, Bewdley, Stourport and Holt Heath. There are four checkpoint stations along the route. Checkpoint food options include vegan and gluten-free choices if selected at registration; competitors may provide labelled food bags for checkpoints if required. The event is cup-free; participants are expected to use a reusable cup.

Entry requirements and rules

Competitors must be at least 20 years old on the start day and must maintain a minimum pace of 4.0 mph or they will be removed from the race. The race is point-to-point so competitors must arrange their own transport from the finish. Car parking is not available at the start or finish locations. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, Ordnance Survey Map 150 or downloadable maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, an emergency food pack (two chocolate bars), and a basic first aid kit.
