The MTC Severn Path Ultra

The event is scheduled for 10 July 2026 and is a point-to-point ultra run of 59 miles (edition: 10th). The route starts at The Premier Inn, Shrewsbury, SY1 1PG, follows the River Severn through Shrewsbury and locations including Atcham, Cressage, Buildway, Ironbridge, Jackfield, Coalport, Apley Forge, Hampton, Upper Arley, Bewdley, Stourport and Holt Heath, and finishes at Travelodge Worcester, WR1 2QS. Total ascent and descent are listed as 786 m and 816 m respectively. All finishers receive a bespoke MTC Severn Plod Ultra medal and a MTC head visor. The race has a course record of 10:36:00.

Logistics and rules

The event has four checkpoint stations: CP1 outside Wroxeter Hotel (SY5 6PH), CP2 outside Woodridge Inn (TF8 7JF), CP3 outside Unicorn Inn (WV16 6BN) and CP4 outside Angel Inn (DY13 9EW). Checkpoint food is available with Vegan and Gluten Free options selectable at registration; competitors who require other special food must supply and label their own bags for the checkpoints. Competitors must maintain an average pace of 4.0 mph or they will be removed from the race. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, Ordnance Survey Map 150 (or downloadable maps), compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food (two chocolate bars) and a basic first aid kit. Standard solo entry is £90. All payments are non refundable; entries may be deferred to the following year for a fee of £15 within the specified entry window.
