The MTC Severn Path Ultra

The MTC Severn Path Ultra is a 59 mile point to point ultramarathon from the Premier Inn, Shrewsbury, SY1 1PG to the Travelodge, Worcester, WR1 2QS. The course is generally flat and follows the River Severn for long sections, passing Atcham, Cressage, Buildway, Ironbridge, Jackfield, Coalport, Apley Forge, Bridge North, Hampton, Upper Arley, Bewdley, Stourport and Holt Heath.

There are four checkpoint stations along the route. Checkpoint catering includes vegan and gluten free options when selected at entry; competitors who require other special foods must supply labelled bags for each checkpoint. All events are cup free and competitors should bring a reusable cup.

Competitors must maintain a minimum average speed of 4.0 miles per hour or they will not be allowed to continue. Entrants must be at least 20 years old on race day. The event enforces a mandatory kit list with random checks; required items include a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, Ordnance Survey Map 150 or downloadable maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, an emergency food pack and a basic first aid kit.

All finishers receive a bespoke MTC Severn Plod Ultra medal and an MTC head visor. The first male and first female finishers receive bespoke Severn Path Ultra trophies. Entry fees are non refundable under the stated terms. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Trail runs nearby

Ludlow10 on Sunday 12 July 2026 offers 5k, 10k and half marathon routes through town roads, local woods and trails. Post race hospitality continues into the day.

A short pairs race on Haddon Hill in Carding Mill Valley where one runner sprints to the top, tags a partner, and the partner runs back down. Entries are on the day only at £10 per pair and the minimum age is over 12.

Trail races of 10 mile and 5 mile in Aymestrey on 19 July 2026, with a climb to the Iron Age hillfort at Croft Ambrey. Routes are fully marked and marshalled with water stations, on the day entries if capacity and a juniors 2 km race.

A multi-distance run along a disused railway between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth, offering distances from 9 miles to 37 miles with 9.4 mile laps and aid stations every 4.7 miles.
