The MTC Severn Path Ultra
The MTC Severn Path Ultra is a point to point ultramarathon that follows the River Severn between Shrewsbury and Worcester. The route is listed at approximately 59 miles with total ascent about 786 metres and total descent about 816 metres. The course passes through Shrewsbury, Atcham, Cressage, Buildway, Ironbridge, Jackfield, Coalport, Apley Forge, Bridge north, Hampton, Upper Arley, Bewdley, Stourport, Holt Heath and finishes at Travelodge Worcester WR1 2QS.
There are four checkpoint stations along the route. Catering at checkpoints includes vegan and gluten free options when selected at entry; competitors who require other special food must provide labelled bags of their own nutrition at registration. The event is cup free so participants must bring a reusable cup. Organisers recommend using provided GPX files for navigation as sections of the Severn Path can be overgrown and route signs may be obscured.
Competitors must maintain an average minimum pace of 4.0 miles per hour or they will be withdrawn. Mandatory kit checks are carried out at registration and include items such as a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, Ordnance Survey Map 150 or downloadable maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food pack and a basic first aid kit.
Entry is by paid registration, standard solo entry is shown as £90.00 and all fees are non refundable. The event is organised as the 10th edition and a course record of 10:36:00 is listed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
