Sandstone Trail Half 2026

The Sandstone Trail Half is a point-to-point running event held annually in early September. The course follows the Sandstone Trail, starting at the Bickerton Hill National Trust car park in Malpas and finishing at the Kelsall Hill Equestrian Centre. The route is marked by yellow circular Sandstone Trail markers on posts, stiles, and gates. Marshals are positioned where the trail intersects with local roads.

The event features a single distance:

  • Half Marathon

Participants must navigate a timed-out crossing point on the A51 road. The time recorded between the two controls at this crossing is deducted from the final race time, which is reflected in the official results. The event operates with a 3 hour 30 minute cut-off time. There are two water stations located along the course, positioned approximately at the 6-mile and 10-mile marks. It is recommended that runners carry a mobile phone, additional water, and extra clothing.

The finish area at Kelsall Hill Equestrian Centre provides facilities including showers and a cafe for both runners and spectators. As there is no parking available at the start area, a bus service is provided to transport participants from the finish area to the start line. The race is conducted under FRA rules and is open to individuals aged 16 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
