Moel Famau 24
Moel Famau 24 is a timed hill and trail event offering 12 hour and 24 hour options on the Clwydian Hill of Moel Famau. The route uses a 7.2 km loop that includes about 500 m of ascent each time; competitors complete as many laps as possible within their chosen time period. Solo runners, walkers and team entrants may take part.
Competitors base themselves in a private event camp field on the slopes of the mountain where tents and vehicles can be parked and support crews may wait. At the end of each lap a peel off from the dibbing area provides access to the camp field and its facilities, which include feed stations, toilets and covered rest areas for spare kit and shelter. Electronic timing is used and a bespoke finisher medal is provided.
There is no cut off and no minimum number of laps; participants may rest for any length of time but must always enter and exit the route through the designated timing areas so laps are recorded correctly. If a lap is in progress when the chosen period ends, competitors complete that lap and the additional time is included in result calculations. Team entry rules require each registered member to complete at least one lap and prohibit the use of runners not registered with the team.
