About the race
The Winter Wirral Ultra is a circular trail event held on Saturday 14 November 2026. The route is approximately 36 miles and is new for 2026 in an anticlockwise direction. It starts and finishes at Hooton Memorial Hall at the end of the Wirral Way and follows much of the well signposted Wirral Circular, taking in the Wirral peninsula coast before following the Wirral Way for the final 12 miles.
The course is mixed terrain with a large proportion of hard surfaces, and is described as suitable for both road and trail runners and for walkers able to complete the route within the 12 hour cut off. The route is partially self navigational, has additional waymarking, and is fully tracked. A GPX file is available and entries include a GPS tracker.
There are five marshaled checkpoints supplying water and a range of snacks such as baked goods, fruit, soft drinks, sweets, pretzels and peanuts. First aid is provided on the day. Entry requirements include a minimum age of 20. Awards include trophies for first female, first male and first non binary, plus age category awards for V50, V60 and V70.
