The MTC Hafren Ultra is Day 1 of the MTC Severn Challenge, a Wales-based point-to-point ultra. The 27-mile route begins at Rhyd-y-benwch picnic area near Llanidloes, climbs to the Severn’s source on Plynlimon through boggy, exposed terrain, then follows Britain’s longest river path back to the finish at Mid Wales Arts Centre in Caersws. The course features about 872 m of ascent and 1,069 m of descent, with a notable 1,600 ft altitude drop after the source and a peak around 1,988 ft. Two check-points provide vegan and gluten-free options; finishers receive a bespoke Hafren Ultra medal and a head visor. Cup-free policy is in place.
