The MTC Hafren Ultra
Hafren Forest, United Kingdom • 8 Jul 2026
The MTC Hafren Ultra is a challenging 27-mile point-to-point ultra marathon held in Wales, starting at Rhyd-y-benwch picnic area and finishing at the Mid Wales Arts Centre in Caersws. The race begins with a demanding four-mile mountain trek up Plynlimon, known as Wales' most dangerous mountain due to concealed bogs, leading to the source of the River Severn. From there, runners follow Britain's longest river path back, descending approximately 1,600 feet through inspiring, largely untouched scenery. The event features two checkpoints offering vegan and gluten-free food options, and all finishers receive a bespoke medal and technical tee shirt. The race demands navigation skills, with recommended use of GPX files, and enforces a minimum pace to ensure safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
