Course and race operations
All courses run on dirt trails and dirt roads. The organizer notes significant elevation change: the 50K includes roughly 5,500 feet of ascent and descent and the 50M about 9,000 feet of ascent and descent. Reported course high is 8,266 feet and low is 4,700 feet. The 50K has seven aid stations; the 50M has nine. Aid stations provide water, ice, electrolytes (Gu Roctane), carbonated water, sodas and a range of foods including potatoes, sandwiches, fruit, cookies and candy. The event is cupless. Drop bags are collected and returned to the start/finish area after the Peavine aid station closes. Poles are permitted. The 50M includes a 7.1-mile loop called "Jimmy’s Loop" with about 1,800 feet of ascent near the Peavine aid station. Course marking uses color-coded ribbon and arrows for each distance. Cutoffs are enforced for safety, including a 14 hour 15 minute limit for the 50M and a 13 hour 15 minute limit for the 50K. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
