Silver State 50/50
The Silver State 50/50 is an annual trail running event held in May at Rancho San Rafael Park in Reno, Nevada. The 2026 edition marks the 41st year for the endurance runs and the 18th for the trail half-marathon. The event offers three distances: a 50-mile, a 50-kilometer, and a trail half-marathon (13.1 miles).
All races start and finish at the Great Basin Adventure area in Rancho San Rafael Park. The courses traverse the multi-use trails of Peavine Mountain and the nearby Carson Range, featuring dirt, rock, pine trees, and single track.
50-Mile Course The 50-mile route includes a 7.1-mile section known as "Jimmy's Loop" with an ascent of about 1,800 feet. The course features approximately 9,000 feet of total ascent/descent, with some steep sections. It is marked with pink ribbon and pink arrows. Key cutoffs are at the Long Valley aid station (1:15 p.m.) and the Peavine aid station (5:15 p.m.), with a final course cutoff at 8:15 p.m.
50-Kilometer Course The 50-kilometer route covers 31 miles with about 5,500 feet of ascent/descent. It is marked with blue ribbon and blue arrows. A key cutoff is at the Peavine aid station (5:15 p.m.), with a final course cutoff at 8:15 p.m.
Trail Half-Marathon Course The half-marathon course shares the first seven miles with the longer races before returning on single track. It has about 1,800 feet of ascent/descent and is marked with orange ribbon and red arrows. The final cutoff is at 3 p.m.
Aid Stations & Logistics The event is cupless, so runners must carry their own cup or bottle. Aid stations provide water, ice, electrolytes, carbonated sodas, and a variety of food including potatoes, sandwiches, fruit, chips, and candy. Drop bags are available for the 50-mile and 50-kilometer races at designated aid stations.
Check-in is required on race morning, approximately one hour before each start. There is no race day registration. Awards are given to overall and age-group winners in each distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
