The Rattlesnake Mountain Challenge takes place on December 27, 2025, at Huffaker Hills Trailhead, 4400 Alexander Lake Road, Reno, NV 89502. The event offers the following distances:

  • 5k race - $40
  • Virtual 5k race - $35

The event is a fundraiser for the Azteca FC youth cross country and track program to assist athletes who qualify to attend the Junior Olympics.

Course and race services

The course is entirely on trail in the Huffaker hills. The 2025 course layout includes one up-and-down section followed by two loops at the bottom of the trailhead. Registration includes a long sleeve performance shirt. Youth and adult athletes ages 5 and up are eligible to participate. The race is recognized and sanctioned by USA Track and Field.
