The event offers two formats:

  • 5k Race
  • Virtual 5k race

Location and Course

The race takes place at the Huffaker Hills Trailhead in Reno, Nevada. The course is entirely on trails in the Rattlesnake Mountain and Huffaker hills area. The route includes one ascent and descent followed by two loops at the bottom of the trailhead.

Registration and Details

Registration for the 5k race costs $40 and includes a long sleeve performance shirt. Registration for the virtual 5k costs $35. The event is open to youth and adult athletes aged 5 and up.

It is a recognized and sanctioned race by USA Track & Field. Official timing will be provided, and results will be posted online after the race. EMT services will be on site, provided by REMSA.

Parking and Shuttle

Parking at the Huffaker Hills Trailhead is limited. Once full, participants will be directed to park at the Longley Town Center parking lot, where a shuttle service will be available from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A 15-passenger van will depart every 15 minutes or when full.

Packet Pickup

Packet pickup is available at the Huffaker Hills Trailhead on the Friday before the race from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and on race day from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM.

Fundraiser

The event is a fundraiser for the Azteca FC youth Cross Country and track program, supporting athletes who qualify for the Junior Olympics. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Trail runs nearby

The Great Ski Race features 26 km and 10 km Nordic ski loops from Tahoe City's Cross Country Center. This fundraiser supports the volunteer Tahoe Nordic Search & Rescue team. A finish line party with food and music follows the skiing.

Trail races near Carson City NV with 22K, 11K and 5K options on single track and significant climbing. The 22K has two aid stations; the shorter distances have no stations and the field is capped at 200 runners.

A community trail event in Reno on April 18, 2026, offering a 5k Run/Walk and a 10k Run at Rancho San Rafael Park, organized by the Rotary Club of Reno Midtown with packet pickup the day before and on-site.

A trail endurance event in Reno with 50 mile, 50 kilometer and 13.1 mile distances, large elevation changes, color marked courses and staffed aid stations; registration closes May 13.
