About the race
The Hidden Valley Hammer takes place on November 7, 2026, in Reno, Nevada, at 4740 Parkway Drive. The event offers two trail race distances and supports the Wildland Firefighter Foundation; 100% of proceeds go to that organization. Registration closes on November 1.
The main route is a 10K trail that climbs roughly 1700 ft in the first 4.5 miles. The course is described as steep, slippery, rocky, and exposed. After reaching a high viewpoint the trail descends quickly back toward the start. There are sections where participants will hike rather than run. Trekking poles are not discouraged and carrying drinking water is recommended. One aid station will be located near the top and will provide water and encouragement only.
A second option is a 5K that follows a less technical loop around the park. That route includes single-track sections and park views.
An after-party follows the event at The 395 Craft Beer and Spirits with food, drinks, and live music. Entry fees are listed in a range and were available through the event offers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
