#RUNMARANA Tortolita Traverse Half-Marathon, 7 Mile, and MTB Races

The event is a two-day trail and mountain bike competition held at Tortolita Preserve in Marana, AZ on April 11 and April 12, 2026. It is the third annual running of the Tortolita Traverse and is presented in partnership with the Town of Marana Parks and Recreation.

Distances and race types:

  • Half Marathon Trail Run
  • 7 Mile Trail Run (~7.7 miles)
  • MTB 10 Mile
  • MTB 20 Mile

The half marathon course combines single-track trail and wash (sand) running. The 7 mile option follows a Tortolita loop. Aid stations are placed roughly every 3 miles on the run course. The mountain bike races are contested over one or two laps of the route; the longer ride has a timed cut-off for completion.

Event features include custom race bibs, a custom online finisher certificate, and a finisher medal for registered participants. Trail runs are supported by the RaceJoy app for tracking, cheers, and directions. Live results and text messaging are available during the event.

Additional challenges include the Tortoise Challenge, which awards a special finisher pin to participants who beat the route director's listed times, and the Dirt Hero Challenge, which recognizes runners who complete a pair of qualifying half marathons to equal marathon distance on local trails.
