Event overview
The Tortolita Traverse is a two-day trail running and mountain bike event held April 11-12, 2026 in Marana, Arizona at Tortolita Preserve (6250 W. Moore Rd). Day one features two trail runs on single-track and wash (sand) surfaces. Day two features two mountain bike races on the same route, run as one or two laps.
Distances and entry limits
- Half Marathon Trail Run
- 7 Mile Trail Run (approximately 7.7 miles)
- MTB 10 Mile
- MTB 20 Mile
The runs are capped at 90 participants. Each mountain bike event is capped at 30 riders. The MTB events are open to ages 13 to 99. Entry fee for listed events is $35.
Course and services
The running routes combine single-track trail and wash running. Aid stations are located roughly every 3 miles on the run course. All registered participants receive a custom race bib, an online finisher's certificate, and a finisher medal. Live results and text messaging will be available. The RaceJoy app is supported for the trail runs for tracking and cheers.
Special challenges
The event includes a "Tortoise Challenge" offering a special finisher pin for participants who beat the route director's time, and a "Dirt Hero Challenge" for completing two specified half marathons to earn a commemorative shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
