Roller Coaster Trail Run
The Roller Coaster Trail Run is a trail running event held in the Dandenong Ranges National Park, approximately one hour drive from the Melbourne CBD. The event village is at Kalorama Memorial Reserve, 1190-1192 Mount Dandenong Tourist Rd, Kalorama VIC 3766. Established in 2012, the event regularly draws more than 1,500 participants.
Courses run through ferny, forested terrain with sustained climbs and descents. The 23k single loop accumulates more than 1150m of vertical gain. The 12k Twilight Mad Mouse follows Observatory Track to Burkes Lookout and then descends Zig Zag Track. The 46k Double Loop Ultra is run as two 23k laps, with the second lap run in the opposite direction. A short 1.23k Kids Carousel loop runs around the reserve for children.
Races are produced by SingleTrack Events, an organiser of trail running events. Marked trails and aid stations are part of the course support described for the event. The programme includes multiple distance options that use established tracks through the park and an event village at Kalorama Memorial Reserve.
