Roller Coaster Trail Run : Melbourne's Mountain Run

The Roller Coaster Trail Run is a trail running event held in the Dandenong Ranges National Park, located less than one hour drive from the Melbourne CBD. Established in 2012, the event draws crowds of 1,200 plus runners and is organised by SingleTrack Events.

The courses run through lush, ferny forest and feature zig-zag tracks, loops and sustained undulating terrain with some steep sections. The 23k course accumulates more than 1150m of vertical ascent. The 12k course includes climbs on Observatory Track, views at Burkes Lookout and downhill on Zig Zag Track. The kids race is a short loop around Kalorama Reserve.

Race distances include:

  • 46k Double Loop Ultra: two 23k loops, second completed in reverse direction.
  • 23k Single Loop: undulating trails through ferny forest, 1150m+ vertical ascent.
  • 12k Twilight Mad Mouse: includes Observatory Track climb and Zig Zag Track descent.
  • 1.23k Kids Carousel: short loop around Kalorama Reserve for children.
