Event Overview

The Salomon Warburton Trail Fest is a three-day celebration of the trail and mountain running lifestyle, taking place in the Warburton Valley. The event location is about an hour and a half drive from the Melbourne CBD.

Activities

The festival offers a variety of runs and unique activities. The running events include:

  • 50 km trail ultra marathon (Lumberjack Run)
  • 22 km half marathon (Donna Double), which is part of the Golden Trail National Series
  • 27 km half marathon (Redwoods Rush)
  • 14 km run (Sawmill Grove)
  • 8 km night run (Little Joe's Night Terror)
  • Three separate 4.5 km runs (River Rapid Run)

The event also features off-trail activities such as a lilo (air mattress) derby, a thong (flip-flop) race, a film screening, and seminars. Participants can enter individual events or choose a multi-day entry package.

Location and Accommodation

The event is based at 3455-3457 Warburton Hwy, Warburton VIC. Accommodation in the area is limited for the March long weekend. An official fundraising camp accommodation option is available at the Warburton Primary School oval.

Registration Notes

A non-runner entry is available for access to all off-trail activities. The event has a partnership with a fundraising organization, Great Forest National Park. Race 3 of the 2026 Trail Running Series is in Silvan in the Dandenong Ranges on Sunday 2 August. Courses of 7.2 km, 15 km and 22 km run through fern gullies and misty ridgelines and feature a handicap format.

A September festival in the Dandenong Ranges with a 13.5 km classic from Belgrave to Emerald Lake Park plus family and junior races, timed results and event services, raising funds for Puffing Billy Railway heritage projects.

A two day trail running and walking festival at Rokeby Recreation Reserve that raises funds for Aus Hair of the Dog Rescue Inc. Distances range from 2 km to 50 km and many categories allow dogs to run alongside participants.

A trail running event in the Dandenong Ranges near Melbourne offering multiple distances from a 1.23 km kids loop to a 46 km double-loop ultra, set on ferny, undulating forest trails with significant climbs and community support.
