Maribyrnong River Run

The Maribyrnong River Run is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, 2026 (to be confirmed) at Footscray Park in Footscray. Distances offered include:

  • 21.1 km (half marathon, 2-lap course plus a 1.1 km loop)
  • 10 km
  • 5 km (run/walk)

The half marathon has a cut-off duration of 3 hours. The 5 km event is open to walkers; the half marathon and 10 km are intended for participants who will run or jog and complete the course within event cut-off times.

Race services and rules

All finishers receive a finisher medal. Events are electronically chip timed for official results. Individual event certificates are available with name, distance, overall position, age group position and official finishing time. Personalised race bibs and a bib-postage option are available for registrations before stated cut-off dates. There will be drink stations on course approximately every 2.5–3 km and water at the finish. A secure, staffed baggage holding area will operate on event day.

The course uses asphalt paths and is described as pram and wheelchair friendly; pram pushers are requested to position toward the rear of start waves. Spectator pets on a lead are permitted, but pets are not allowed with participants on course. Public liability insurance is in place; individual medical and rescue costs are the responsibility of participants. Age groups are defined from 8–12 years (5 km only) up to 70+ years; trophies and age-group medals are awarded, and results for prizes are calculated on Gun Time.
