Event overview

The Roller Coaster Recce Run is a free practice event hosted by the Dandenongs Trail Runners on Sunday 28 September 2025. It takes place at Kalorama Memorial Reserve, Mount Dandenong Tourist Road, Kalorama VIC, Australia. The recce run follows the course of the Roller Coaster Trail Run and is intended as a practice opportunity before the main event.

Participants are expected to treat the recce like race day. The run is described as self-supported, so participants should carry any mandatory gear and plan without the usual on-course support that will be provided on race day. Attendees are asked to RSVP their attendance.

For the 23 km option, participants are invited to join one of four pace groups with estimated finish ranges: Wombats (slow) 3:30–4:00 hours, Possums (medium) 3:00–3:20 hours, Kangaroos (fast) 2:40–3:00 hours, and Emus (super fast) under 2:30. The event page lists additional information on toilets, water, aid stations, shoe recommendations, nutrition, poles, course maps, mandatory gear, abandoning the run, and ambulance cover.
