The Trail Running Series - Silvan
Silvan, Australia • 2 Aug 2026
Course Description - Silvan
The Silvan race takes place in the Dandenong Ranges and runs through Mountain Ash forest and fern-lined valleys. Courses use a mix of single track, double track and dirt roads, with wider trails nearer the finish. Organisers note the Silvan routes have more sustained climbing than other Series races.
The distances and elevation are:
- Long Course: 21.7km, 703m ascent, water points at 9km and 17km
- Medium Course: 15.1km, 400m ascent, water point at 9km
- Short Course: 7.3km, 175m ascent, no water points
The Long Course follows the same route as previous years. The Medium Course avoids the Arboretum summit and remains separated from the Long and Short courses until the final few hundred metres. The Short Course avoids the major long-course hills and stays on lower flanks of the Dandenongs.
Races use a handicap start format so runners from different courses will be mixed at times. Course markings are colour coded and include pegged arrows, coloured surveyor’s tape, and white flour arrows on the ground: red/orange and fluoro pink for Long, green for Medium, and blue/aqua for Short. Because courses split and rejoin, runners must follow their course markings.
Passing etiquette guidance asks faster runners to announce intentions, slower runners to indicate a safe place to yield, and everyone to keep movement predictable while making room to pass. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
