Osmotherley, United Kingdom • 17 Jan 2026

Event overview

Let's Run Adventures presents a recce of the Hardmoors 55 route on Saturday 17 January 2026. The event covers the section from Cod Beck large car park, just outside Osmotherley, to Helmsley. It is described as a recce rather than a race. Entries opened 27 January 2025 and close 10 January 2026. Entry fee is £30.00, maximum entries are 60, and there were 11 participants listed at the time of publication. A bus from Helmsley to the start is available for a fee of £12 per person for those who wish to leave cars at the finish.

Route and support

The route follows the Hardmoors 55 line from Scarth Nick, through Osmotherley, up to Square Corner where there will be a checkpoint with snacks and drinks. The course then follows the Cleveland Way and the Hardmoors 55 route to Helmsley. Water refills are possible at Sneck Yate and at a checkpoint at White Horse where water and refreshments will be provided. Runners will be divided into groups led by experienced run leaders and accompanied by sweepers. Soup and hot drinks will be available at Helmsley after the run.

Mandatory kit

Participants must carry the mandatory winter kit list, which includes a waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams, hat and gloves plus spare gloves, long running bottoms if not worn, at least 500 ml fluid, spare food, head torch with batteries, spare insulating top, emergency bivvy bag and foil blanket, whistle or compass, map OL26 or equivalent, a fully charged mobile phone, and a soft cup for checkpoints. It is suggested to have OS Locate and What3Words apps installed. Refunds are only given if the organisers cancel the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
