Let's Run Adventures - Hardmoors 55 Recce (17 January 2026)

This is an organised recce of the Hardmoors 55 route from Cod Beck to Helmsley, run by Lets Run Adventures. The event takes place on 17 January 2026. Entry fee is £30. Maximum entries are 60 and entries are handled through SiEntries. The event is described as a recce rather than a race. Groups will be led by experienced run leaders and each group will have sweepers. When participants arrive in Helmsley there will be soup and hot drinks available.

Route, support and kit

The route replicates the Hardmoors 55 from Scarth Nick, through Osmotherley to Square Corner where there is a checkpoint with snacks and drinks. Runners then follow the Cleveland Way and Hardmoors 55 route to Helmsley. There is a water refill point at Sneck Yate and a further checkpoint at White Horse with water and refreshments. The distance is around 25 miles. A bus option is provided from the Cleveland Way carpark in Helmsley for those who want to leave cars at the finish; the bus costs £12 per person.

Mandatory kit includes waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams, hat and gloves plus spare gloves, long running bottoms if not worn, at least 500 ml of fluid, spare food, head torch with batteries, spare insulating top or jacket, emergency bivvy bag and foil blanket, whistle, map OL26 or equivalent, fully charged mobile phone and a soft cup. The organisers note winter conditions are possible, including cold, wet underfoot and some snow or ice on the moors. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
