Osmotherley, United Kingdom • 17 Jan 2026

Event overview

The Lets Run Adventures Hardmoors 55 recce is scheduled for Saturday 17 January 2026. The event starts at Cod Beck large car park just outside Osmotherley, North Yorkshire, and finishes in Helmsley. The recce covers about 25 miles of the Hardmoors 55 route. Entries open 27 January 2025 and close 10 January 2026. Entry fee is £30. Maximum entries are 60; entries so far are listed as 4 participants. Refunds are only given if the event is cancelled by the organisers. An optional XCover purchase is offered for refund protection in certain personal circumstances.

Route, support and kit

The route replicates the Hardmoors 55 from Scarth Nick, through Osmotherley, up to Square Corner (a checkpoint with snacks and drinks), then follows the Cleveland Way and Hardmoors 55 route to Helmsley. Sneck Yate is listed as a water refill point and there is a further checkpoint at White Horse with water and refreshments. The finish in Helmsley will have soup and hot drinks available.

Participants will be divided into groups led by experienced run leaders; the event is a recce, not a race. Each group will have sweepers. A bus will run from the Cleveland Way carpark in Helmsley (YO62 5AZ) for people who wish to leave cars at the finish; the bus costs £12 per person. The organiser lists a mandatory winter kit list that includes waterproof clothing, hat and gloves, spare food and fluids, head torch with batteries, emergency bivvy and foil blanket, map OL26 (or equivalent) and a fully charged mobile phone. The OS Locate and What3Words apps are suggested. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
