Let's Run Adventures, Hardmoors 55 Recce is a guided recce of part of the Hardmoors 55 route on Saturday 17 January 2026. The route runs from Cod Beck large car park just outside Osmotherley to Helmsley and covers ascents at Black Hambleton and White Horse. The distance is around 25 miles. The recce follows the Hardmoors 55 line from Scarth Nick through Osmotherley to Square Corner, then along the Cleveland Way to Helmsley. The event is described as a recce, not a race, and runners will be divided into groups led by experienced run leaders with sweepers to support each group.

Logistics and kit

There will be a checkpoint at Square Corner with snacks and drinks, a water refill point at Sneck Yate, and a further checkpoint at White Horse with water and refreshments. On arrival at Helmsley, soup and hot drinks will be available. A bus option from the Cleveland Way carpark in Helmsley is available for those who want to leave cars at the finish; the bus fare is £12 per person. Entry fee is £30. Entries open 27 January 2025 and close 10 January 2026; maximum entries 60 and entries recorded so far are 14. Participants must register or log in with SiEntries to enter. The organisers list a mandatory winter kit including waterproof jacket and trousers, hat and gloves, spare clothing, at least 500 ml fluid, head torch with batteries, emergency bivvy and foil blanket, whistle and map, fully charged mobile phone, and a soft cup for checkpoints.
