Hidden Valley Hammer is a trail event in Reno, Nevada offering a 10K and a 5K route. The event starts and finishes at the park near 4740 Parkway Drive and returns to the same location.
The 10K follows a steep, exposed trail that is rocky and slippery in sections. The course climbs roughly 1700 ft in the first 4.5 miles, reaches a high viewpoint, then descends quickly back to the start. Parts of the route require hiking rather than running. Trekking poles are not discouraged and carrying drinking water is recommended. There is one aid station near the top that will provide water and encouragement.
The 5K follows a less technical loop around the park with singletrack and scenic views and is presented as an alternative for less experienced trail runners.
Entry fees are listed in a range from $43.50 to $53.50 USD. Registration closes on November 1, 2026. One hundred percent of proceeds from the event are designated for the Wildland Firefighter Foundation.
