Trail Events in North Yorkshire

Hardmoors 26.2: Wainstones is a trail running event based in Chop Gate, North Yorkshire. It is one of six races in the Hardmoors 26.2 Series, held within the North York Moors. All routes are circular, starting and finishing at the Chop Gate Village Hall.

The event offers three distinct distances:

  • Trail Marathon: A 28.5 mile course with a 10-hour completion limit for participants aged 18 and over.
  • Half Marathon: A 16.5 mile course with a 6-hour completion limit for participants aged 16 and over.
  • Trail 10k: A 9.5 mile course with a 4-hour completion limit for participants aged 10 and over.

The Half Marathon and Marathon routes are located at height and feature significant exposure. Because of these conditions, specific mandatory safety equipment is required for all participants. This kit includes a waterproof jacket with taped seams, a hat, gloves, an emergency survival bag, a foil blanket, a whistle, and the capacity to carry at least 500ml of fluid. Participants must also carry a route description and map. While the 10k route does not have the same mandatory jacket and hat requirements, the survival bag, foil blanket, and whistle remain compulsory.

The event operates a strict no-dogs policy for runners. As a cup-free event, no plastic cups are provided at checkpoints or the finish; participants must bring their own cups for both cold and hot drinks. The entry fee includes parking at the venue.
