Hardmoors 26.2 Wainstones Trail Marathon
The Hardmoors 26.2 Wainstones Trail Marathon is an off-road running event based at Chop Gate Village Hall. The event forms part of the Hardmoors 26.2 series and takes place on the trails of the North York Moors. The courses are not taped or signed; instead, participants must navigate themselves using provided maps and route descriptions.
Three distinct distances are available during the event:
- Marathon: Approximately 28 miles with 5600 feet of ascent and a 10-hour time limit.
- Half Marathon: Approximately 16.5 miles with 3630 feet of ascent and a 6-hour time limit.
- 10k: Approximately 9.5 miles with 1600 feet of ascent and a 4-hour time limit.
Mandatory kit requirements are in place for all runners. Participants in the Marathon and Half Marathon must carry a waterproof jacket with taped seams, a hat, gloves, a whistle, a survival bag, a foil blanket, and a spare long-sleeved base layer. All distances require the capacity to carry 500ml of fluid and printed copies of the route description and map.
The event is cupless, meaning runners must bring their own reusable cups for drinks at checkpoints and the finish. Registration fees include car parking and a donation to the Cleveland Way National Trail. Finishers receive a medal, and refreshments such as cakes and crisps are provided at the finish line.
