The Grayson Highlands trail races take place May 2-3, 2026 at Grayson Highlands State Park in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia (829 Grayson Highland Ln). Distances offered are:

  • 50 Mile: 7,500–9,500 ft climbing; 16 hour cutoff.
  • 50K: 4,500–5,000 ft climbing; 10.5 hour cutoff.
  • 25K: 3,000 ft climbing; 6 hour cutoff.
  • 8 Mile: 1,200–1,400 ft climbing; 4 hour cutoff.

Registration closes Fri, May 1 at 11:59 PM ET. Packet pickup is available Friday 4-8 PM, with pre-race pickup also available on race morning.

Course, services and policies

Course maps, aid station breakdowns, and cutoffs are provided by the organizer. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each race. All finishers receive a beanie or hat and a finishers medal; post-race food and free professional race photos are provided. The event supports the state park, a local rescue squad, and the park friends group.

Refund and transfer policy: within 90 days of the event there are no refunds, bib transfers, or deferments. More than 90 days before the race, registrants may receive half credit toward another Run Bum Race of equal or lesser value, valid for one year. Course and race details are subject to change.
