Event Distances
The Grayson Highlands trail races offer four distances. The 50 Mile has approximately 7,500 feet of climbing and a 17-hour cutoff. The 50K has 5,000 feet of climbing and a 10.5-hour cutoff. The 25K has 3,000 feet of gain and a 6-hour cutoff. The 8 Mile has 1,200 feet of gain and a 4-hour cutoff. The organizer notes that distances and elevation are approximate.
Event Details
The event takes place on May 2-3, 2026, at Grayson Highlands State Park in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia. It is the 13th annual edition. Packet pickup is available on Friday from 4-8 PM, and also on race morning. The event benefits the state park, a local rescue squad, and a friends group.
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each race. All participants receive a beanie or hat and a finisher's medal. Post-race food and free professional race photos are provided. The refund policy states that within 90 days of the event, there are no refunds, bib transfers, or deferments.
