Grayson Highlands trail races, May 2-3, 2026

This event takes place at Grayson Highlands State Park near Mouth of Wilson, Virginia. Multiple distances follow trails through mountain terrain and scenic highland views. The courses pass through areas where wild ponies can be seen.

Distances offered:

  • 50 mile with approximately 7,500 feet of climbing.
  • 50K with approximately 4,500 feet of climbing.
  • 25K with approximately 3,000 feet of climbing.
  • 8 mile with approximately 1,200 feet of climbing.

Packet pickup is available on the Friday before the race from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with additional pre-race pickup options. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in each race. All finishers receive a beanie or hat and a finishers medal; post race food and professional race photos are provided. The event supports the state park, a local rescue squad, and the park friends group.

Entry and refund rules note that within 90 days of the event there are no refunds, bib transfers, or deferments. Before 90 days some credit toward another Run Bum race may be available.
