Grayson Highlands trail races

Grayson Highlands is a multi-distance trail race event held in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia. This is the 13th annual running of the event. Races take place on mountain trails and emphasize the trail experience over exact GPS distances.

Distances offered:

  • 50 Mile - about 7,500 ft climbing, 16.5 hour cutoff
  • 50K - about 5,000 ft climbing, 11 hour cutoff
  • 25K - about 2,500 ft gain, 6 hour cutoff
  • 8 Mile - about 1,200 ft gain, 4 hour cutoff

The organizer notes that distances are approximate because GPS and mapping may vary. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each race. All finishers receive a pint glass and a finishers medal, and professional race photos are provided at no extra cost. The event supports the state park, a local rescue squad, and the park friends group.

Packet pickup is available the day before the races and on race morning. The course and race details are subject to change. Within 90 days of the event there are no refunds, bib transfers, or deferments; before 90 days entrants may receive half credit toward another Run Bum race of equal or lesser value, valid for one year. Ordered swag not picked up at the race will not be mailed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
