Crystal Springs Ultra Races : Wytheville, VA
The Crystal Springs Ultra Races take place at the Crystal Springs Recreation Area in Wytheville, Virginia. The event uses a loop course that includes the High Rocks Spur Trail, Boundary Trail, Crystal Springs Loop, High Rocks Trail, and connecting fire roads and waterline trails. Terrain is technical in some sections and includes notable elevation gain.
Distance options include:
- 36 miles three 12.2 mile loops, 2,008 ft elevation gain per loop
- 24 miles two 12.2 mile loops, 2,008 ft elevation gain per loop
- 12 miles one 12.2 mile loop, 2,008 ft elevation gain
- 4 miles Crystal Light loop, about 4 miles, 774 ft elevation gain
- 3 hour Crystal Light option using the 4 mile loop
- 2 mile kids run on the Crystal Springs Loop with minimal elevation gain
Parking at the start line is not available; a shuttle from a designated shuttle parking location is required on race day. The event is cupless; runners must carry their own collapsible cup or bottle because aid stations do not provide disposable cups. Aid stations offer PB&J sandwiches, bananas, pretzels, Oreos, hard candy, limited gels, and hot food at selected stations.
Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the race at Seven Sisters Brewery in downtown Wytheville. The event organizer is SWVA Running. Entry fee refunds are not offered; transfers, rollovers for medical reasons, and other transfer rules apply as stated by the organizer.
