Crystal Springs Ultra Races : Wytheville, Virginia

The event is held on trails within the Crystal Springs Recreation Area in the Town of Wytheville, Virginia. The course uses the High Rocks Spur Trail and Boundary Trail loop and includes sections that are technical.

This is a loop course with the following loop options:

  • 12.8 miles loop with 2,008 ft elevation gain
  • 2.1 miles Crystal Springs Loop with 351 ft elevation gain

The 12.8-mile loop follows Crystal Springs Loop Trail to Boundary Trail to High Rocks Spur Trail to High Rocks Trail to the Fire Road and returns via Boundary Trail and Waterline to the finish. The smaller Crystal Springs Loop can feature a waterfall when there has been enough rain.

Parking at the race site is limited; participants are required to use a shuttle. Shuttle parking is at 180 Pump Hollow Road. There is no parking at the start line (723 Pump Hollow Road).

This is a cupless event: participants must carry a collapsible cup or bottle because aid stations do not provide cups. Aid stations offer PB&J sandwiches, bananas, pretzels, Oreos, hard candy, a limited number of gels, and hot food at select stations.

Entry fees are nonrefundable. Transfers and rollovers are allowed under stated conditions, and race-organizer policies permit distance transfers up to the day before the event. Awards are given for 1st–3rd overall in Male, Female, and Nonbinary categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
