Crystal Springs Ultra Races

Crystal Springs Ultra Races is a trail running event held at the Crystal Springs Recreation Area in the Town of Wytheville, Virginia. The event is organized by SWVA Running and uses a loop course that follows local trails around the recreation area.

Distances and course details:

• 12-hour and 6-hour: one loop = 12.8 miles, 2,008 ft elevation gain.
• 3-hour (Crystal Light): one loop = 3.1 miles, 466 ft elevation gain.
• The Leftovers Option: low-cost entry with limited amenities.
• The course follows Crystal Springs Loop Trail, Boundary Trail, High Rocks Spur, High Rocks Trail, Fire Road, and the Waterline.

Logistics note that parking at the Crystal Springs start is limited and shuttle use is required on race day. Shuttle parking address is 180 Pump Hollow Road, Wytheville, VA; the start line address is 723 Pump Hollow Road. This is a cupless event; participants must carry a collapsible cup or bottle because aid stations do not provide cups. Aid stations offer PB&J sandwiches, bananas, pretzels, Oreos, hard candy, a limited number of gels, and hot foods at select locations.

Packet pickup takes place Friday, August 7, 2026 from 5 PM to 8 PM at Seven Sisters Brewery, 355 E Main St, Wytheville, VA. There are no refunds of entry fees; transfers are permitted up to the day before the race and rollovers are allowed for medical conditions including pregnancy and post-partum.
