Crystal Springs Ultra Races, Wytheville VA

The event is a timed trail race set at Crystal Springs Recreation Area near Wytheville, Virginia. The course is a looped trail system that uses Crystal Springs Loop Trail, Boundary Trail, High Rocks Spur Trail, High Rocks Trail and connecting fire road and waterline sections. Trails include technical sections and noticeable elevation changes.

Distances and loop details

• 12 hour and 6 hour: one loop 12.8 miles, 2,008 ft elevation gain
• 3 hour (Crystal Light): one loop 3.1 miles, 466 ft elevation gain

Aid stations are cupless; runners are required to carry a collapsible cup or personal bottle. Stations offer PB&J sandwiches, bananas, pretzels, Oreos, hard candy, and a limited number of gels, with hot foods at selected stations.

Parking at the recreation area is limited. A shuttle is required on race day and runs between the shuttle parking area and the start area. The shuttle parking address is 180 Pump Hollow Road; the start line address is 723 Pump Hollow Road. There is no parking at the start line.

Packet pickup is scheduled for Friday at Seven Sisters Brewery in downtown Wytheville. Entry refunds are not offered; transfers, limited rollovers for medical conditions, and distance changes under conditions are described by the organizer.

The Leftover Option is a limited, low cost entry that includes a leftover medal and bib but no shirt or swag, and is limited to ten runners. Awards are given for top three overall in male, female, and nonbinary categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
