Course and logistics
All courses are 100% dirt, flat, and run along the New River and Chestnut Creek inside New River Trail State Park. Each distance is an out-and-back course. Aid stations are placed at specific mile points for each distance: the 50K (and 100k) use stations at miles 2, 5, 11.82, 15.94, 20.06, and 25.73; the 25k uses stations at miles 2, 5, 7.5, 10, and 13; the 10K has stations near miles 2 and 4.2. Aid stations supply electrolyte drink, water, Coke, PB&J, salty snacks, candy, and fruit; hot foods are available at select stations. This is a cupless race - runners must carry at least one water bottle or cup because no disposable cups are available. Drop bags are permitted for 50k and 100k runners and will be moved to the Cliffview turnaround and returned to the finish area. Packet pick-up is at the Start/Finish area the night before and on race morning. Headlamps or flashlights are required for the 100k; 50k participants are advised to consider them. Parking requires the state park daily fee of $7 unless a pass is held. The event does not offer refunds; transfers and rollovers have specific rules, including allowances for medical conditions and pregnancy. 100k finishers receive a buckle. Awards are given for overall places and for multiple age-group categories, including male, female, and nonbinary divisions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
