The Stone Mountain Massacre takes place on Saturday, February 7, 2026 in Roaring Gap, North Carolina near Stone Mountain Visitor Center. The event offers three distances:

The 50K includes a themed quest that involves carrying a Protection Stone and collecting Six Sacred Stones along the course. A handcrafted "Blood Book" is available for purchase to house collected stones and a finisher medal. Finishers receive a one-of-a-kind pottery medal.

Registration closes Wednesday, February 4. Results will be posted on UltraSignup. Race photos are expected about one week after the event.

Course, aid, and rules

The course follows the Bypass Trail into the Stone Mountain Loop, descends to Wolf Creek, and joins the Mountain-to-Sea Trail. The route includes a climb of 300 stairs and an elevation gain of about 1,530 ft per loop. Trails are marked with red ribbons and yellow arrows. The event has five aid stations - two manned and three unmanned - offering food (pickles, bacon, candy, cereal, fruit), drinks (water, Tailwind, soda), and first aid.

Event rules include no dogs, no strollers, no refunds for weather, trekking poles allowed, walkers permitted if they finish, and bibs must be worn on the front. A 10-hour time limit applies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
