Trail Running calendar near Portpatrick 2026-2027

Run the scenic River Ayr Way, a 44 mile source to sea trail through wildlife rich valleys and historic sites. Every September the River Ayr Way Challenge invites runners to tackle a 40 mile ultra for a memorable weekend adventure.

The Spirit of Axnfell will take place in Isle of Man on Sunday 13 September 2026. You can run 32 kilometers.

Take on the Eskdale Show fell race in the Lake District, a scenic 6.9 km course with 277 m of climb across classic fell terrain. Open to adults and juniors, with easy entry on the day for spontaneous race plans.

The Buzzard's Roost on Saturday 3 October 2026 in County Down is a fierce mountain run of 11.90 km with 870 m of climb, ideal for strong fell runners. Part of Ulster Championship, it has strict safety kit rules and limited course markings.

Tough fell race at Wasdale Head on 10 October 2026, 3.8 km with 700 m of climb offering thrilling, steep terrain and stunning views. Entry on the day makes it perfect for last minute racers; sensible waterproof kit required.

Run 57 miles point to point from Glasgow Riverside Museum to Edinburgh Athletics Track, passing the Falkirk Wheel and the Antonine Wall. Live GPS tracking and just 750 spots make this an iconic long distance challenge.

Take on the wild Mourne Mountains at SkyRun the Mournes on 10 October 2026, with three scenic yet demanding skyraces from 20km trail to 50km ultra. Entries are open for a day of rugged peaks, big views and mountain running camaraderie.

The James Coulson Laxey Fell will take place in Laxey on Saturday 24 October 2026. You can run 13 kilometers.

Take on the classic Buttermere fell race on 25 October 2026 at Gatesgarth Farm, a tough 5 km senior route with 600 m of climbing plus short junior races. Enjoy a traditional shepherds meet atmosphere, entry on the day and a warm drink.

The Narradale Fell Race will take place in Sulby on Saturday 7 November 2026. You can run 20 kilometers.

Challenge yourself at the Crag Fell Handicap, a club run fell race in the Lake District featuring a short but steep 4 km course with 410 m of climb. Entry is by pre entry only and the handicap format makes for a lively, competitive start.

The Snaefell and the Tholtans will take place in Snaefell on Saturday 5 December 2026. You can run 13 kilometers.

Tackle a classic winter hill challenge in Southern Galloway with 17.5 km and 800 m of ascent, summiting Cairnsmore of Fleet before a warming finish. Organised by Galloway Mountain Rescue, all profits support their work.
