Scafell Sky Ultra 2027

The Scafell Sky Ultra is a mountain ultramarathon held in the Central and Southern Lake District, based at Lanty Slees Stickle Barn on Saturday 5 June 2027. The route covers 63 km with 4400 m of ascent, and is run on technical single track trails and ridge lines. The maximum time allowed for the course is 15 hours.

Entry requires competitors to be at least 19 years old on race day. Entries are not vetted. Entry fees start at £120 and increase in two steps later in the entry period. Entries open on 8 June 2026 and close on 7 May 2027.

Included in the entry fee are a fully marked course, four fully supplied feed stations with manned checkpoints, a finisher seed bomb medal, electronic timing and tracking supplied by Open Tracking, and a safety officer with a supporting safety team. The race is part of the Skyrunner National Series for the UK and Ireland and is presented by Lake District Sky Trails. Optional paid extras available to entrants include a cotton event tee, branded goat bells for supporters, and a post race massage with a portion of proceeds donated to a local school. Take on the Reston Scar Scamper at Staveley Mill Yard on Wed 24 Jun 2026, a lively 6 km fell race with 301 m of climb across fully marked Lake District trails. On the day entry is £5 and all proceeds support Staveley community projects.

A new 3.45 miles / 6.00 km fell race on 27 June 2026 around Kirkby-in-Furness, climbing 750 feet. The event counts for the BOFRA Championship and includes junior and senior age categories.

A fell and trail event at Honister Slate Mine combining mountain terrain with a 700 m underground mine section. Fully flagged courses of 5km and 10km, helmet and headtorch required at the start, minimum age 16.

A 13K fell race with 825 m of ascent on Blencathra, held in Mungrisdale as a category AM counter in the 2026 English Fell Running Championships. The event is full and new entries go onto a waiting list.
