The Yorkshireman Off Road Marathon and Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 13 September 2026 and is organised by Keighley and Craven Athletics Club. The routes run across Bronte Country and include open moorland, trails, and woods. Distances offered:

Race details

The full marathon has about 3,065 ft of ascent and the half marathon about 1,750 ft. Both races use chip timing with live web updates at feed stations and the finish. The event is run under Fell Runners Association (FRA) rules and mandatory minimum kit is required. Feed stations:

  • Half marathon: two feed stations at 8.2 miles and 12.3 miles, stocked with water, squash, cola, fruit, chocolate bars, jelly babies, Port and Stilton.
  • Full marathon: five feed stations at 8.2, 15.3, 18.4, 21.7 and 23.9 miles, with additional items such as salted potatoes, fruitcake and occasional ice creams.

Pairs entries are allowed in the full marathon with male, female and mixed categories. Entry fees for 2026 start at £22 (senior) with later increases; a £4 discount applies for FRA members and a discounted fee applies for under-25s. Optional race clothing is available for an extra cost and waterproof route maps are sold for £2.50. The organisers offer free guided reccy runs in July and August and provide free deferrals and substitution options subject to published deadlines. Two winter races from Great Owl Running on 24 January 2026 at Kirkstall Bridge. A roughly 16 km multi terrain route follows the canal and River Aire while a 10 km out and back runs along the canal.

Run the Petzl Night Runner at Rivington under head torch light, choosing 10 km or a half marathon on glow in the dark trail signage. Expect rough, boggy, rocky terrain, a finisher medal and lively post race buzz.

The North of England Cross Country Championships come to Pontefract Race Course on 24 January 2026, with races for U13 to senior athletes on a challenging parkland course. Chip timing and club colours required, entries close 18 January.

Take on The Half & Half 10 km on 25 January 2026 at Sowerby Bridge for a split terrain challenge. Rugged muddy trails and obstacles give way to a tarmac finish, entries are limited to 100 and hoodies are available to pre order.
