Winter Canal Canter
The Winter Canal Canter is a series of trail races held along the Leeds to Liverpool Canal at Wyther Lane, Kirkstall, Leeds. The route is an out and back course on flat terrain with good trail surfaces and lakeside views.
The event offers multiple distances and feed stations approximately every three miles. Organisers aim to operate with minimal single-use cups, so participants are advised to bring a reusable cup or bottle. The course is marshalled and signed, and there may be unmarshalled road crossings.
Bibs are issued on the day at registration; registration and toilets are located next to the canal. There is no parking at the start and finish; local parking is available, with Kirkstall Morrisons about a five minute walk from the start/finish. The closest train station is Headingley on the Northern service.
The races are licensed by the Trail Running Association under UKA rules. Finishers receive a bespoke medal and event treats. Large over-ear headphones are banned for safety; bone conduction or single in-ear earphones are permitted. Transfers and deferrals can be managed online and deferrals are allowed up to seven days before the event. Participants should notify the nearest marshal if they are injured or wish to retire.
