Windy Hill is a fell race organised by CraggRunner on Sunday 8 February 2026. The venue is the Rams Head Inn, Ripponden Road, Denshaw, Oldham OL3 5UN. The course length is approximately 12 miles (19 km) with about 2,100 ft (640 m) of ascent. The race is run under UK Athletics rules and is licensed with the Trail Running Association and Fell Running Association. Chip timing will be used with instant results available online. Teams are allowed, with three to count. The event limit is 300 entries. Pre-entry fees are £15 for affiliated runners and £17 for non-affiliated; entries on the day are £20 if the limit has not been reached. Minimum age is 18 years.
Route and race requirements
The route starts and finishes at the Rams Head and crosses moorland via Hollingworth Lake, Blackstone Edge and a high section of the Pennine Way to the Windy Hill mast before returning via the Ogden Valley. Checkpoints provide basic supplies of water and sweets. As a winter event, full FRA kit is required, including:
- waterproof jacket and trousers
- hat and gloves
- traditional paper map and compass
- whistle
- emergency food
- water bottle (minimum 500 ml)
