Punk Panther Wharfedale Skyline

Punk Panther Wharfedale Skyline is a trail running event on routes around the hills near Otley, Ilkley and Guiseley. The event is organised by Punk Panther Ultra Marathons and forms Race 10 of 10 in the series. Maximum entrants are 200 and entries are recorded in advance.

Distances offered include:

  • 13 miles (Half marathon)
  • 20 miles
  • 35 miles (Ultramarathon)

Climb for the courses is listed as 1,700, 2,800 and 4,800 feet respectively for the three distances. The route passes notable features such as Otley Chevin’s Surprise View, the Cow and Calf Rocks in Ilkley, and Lindley Wood Reservoir. Provisional GPX files and a route description are provided; final route information is emailed to competitors.

All ultramarathon entrants receive a tracker; half marathon and 20 mile runners may hire a tracker. The tracker includes an emergency button. Checkpoints along the route provide water, coke, energy bars and crisps, with vegan and gluten free options noted.

Participants must carry mandatory safety kit at all distances, including a waterproof jacket, survival bag, whistle, personal first aid kit and a hard copy of the map or route description; a head torch is required for the longest course. Dogs are permitted subject to event rules and safety support runners are allowed. Women only 50 km ultramarathon around Hebden Bridge with about 1400 m ascent, four vegan friendly checkpoints and a 10 hour cutoff at checkpoint 4.

A 24 mile walk or run around Calderdale from Heath Rugby Club near Halifax, with checkpoints, refreshments, a finishers certificate and a meal; bring your own mug.

Round Hill Fell Race is an 8.7 mile run across Blubberhouses Moor with about 1,100 ft of ascent, visiting Round Hill and Ellar Carr Pike. Entry is on the day for runners aged 18 and over and full FRA kit is required.

A mid-summer out-and-back fell race from Mytholmroyd to Crow Hill and back, about 5 miles with 305 m ascent, including a woodland descent through Redacre Woods. Part of Todmorden Harriers' Summer Series.
