Wharfedale Skyline

Event overview

Punk Panther Wharfedale Skyline is a trail running event held on 14 November 2026 around Wharfedale in West Yorkshire. The route uses hills and trails near Otley, Ilkley and Guiseley and includes named features such as Otley Chevin’s Surprise View, Cow and Calf Rocks and Lindley Wood Reservoir. The event is the tenth race in the organiser’s series and has a maximum field of 200 entrants. The organiser lists ITRA points and UTMB qualifications for the distances.

Course, distances and logistics

Distances and climb (as listed):

• 13 miles - 1,700 ft climb
• 20 miles - 2,800 ft climb
• 35 miles - 4,800 ft climb

Checkpoints and timing points are placed on the course; checkpoint locations include Yeadon Tarn, Menston, Denton and Norwood Methodist Church, with the finish at Otley Cricket Club Pavilion. Checkpoints provide water, coke, energy bars and crisps, with vegan and gluten free options. All ultramarathon entrants receive a tracker; half marathon and 20 mile runners may hire a tracker for a fee. Provisional GPX files and a route description are made available; a final route will be emailed to competitors with the final instructions. Routes will be taped, but competitors are warned not to rely solely on tape for navigation. A kit list applies to all distances and includes a waterproof jacket, survival bag, whistle, personal first aid kit, hard copy of the map/route and other items; head torch is required for the longest course.
