Punk Panther Wharfedale Skyline
The Punk Panther Wharfedale Skyline is a trail running event held in West Yorkshire. The course traverses the hills and scenery surrounding Otley, Ilkley, and Guiseley. Participants pass notable landmarks including Otley Chevin’s Surprise View, the Cow and Calf Rocks in Ilkley, and the Lindley Wood Reservoir.
The event offers three distinct distances:
- Ultra 34 Miles (35 miles total, 4800 feet climb)
- 20 Miles (2800 feet climb)
- Half Marathon (13 miles, 1700 feet climb)
The race is open to runners aged 18 and older. The event capacity is limited to 200 entrants. All ultramarathon participants are provided with a GPS tracker, while trail race runners have the option to hire one. The routes are marked with tape, flags, or signs before the race, though runners are expected to be able to navigate the course.
Multiple checkpoints are situated along the routes, providing water, soda, energy bars, and crisps, with vegan and gluten-free options available. Every finisher receives a medal and an event T-shirt. Post-race homemade hot food and drinks are served at the finish line located at the Otley Cricket Club Pavilion. Participants must carry a mandatory kit, which includes items such as a waterproof jacket with taped seams, a survival bag, a whistle, and a mobile phone.
