Punk Panther Wharfedale Skyline

The Punk Panther Wharfedale Skyline is a trail running event held in the hills around Otley, Ilkley, and Guiseley. The routes are designed to follow the skyline of the Wharfedale valley, featuring terrain that includes local landmarks such as Otley Chevin’s Surprise View, the Cow and Calf Rocks in Ilkley, and the Lindley Wood Reservoir. The event serves as the final race in a ten-part series.

Participants can choose from three distinct distances:

  • 13 miles (Half Marathon) with 1,700 feet of climb
  • 20 miles with 2,800 feet of climb
  • 35 miles (Ultramarathon) with 4,800 feet of climb

The event is open to runners aged 18 and older. The 35-mile ultramarathon includes a GPS tracker for all participants, while runners in the shorter distances have the option to hire one. All courses are marked with tape, flags, or signs, though runners are expected to use provided GPX files or route descriptions for primary navigation.

The race follows a strict kit list for all distances, which includes a waterproof jacket with taped seams, a survival bag, a whistle, and a personal first aid kit. Specific timing points and checkpoints are located along the course, providing water, snacks, and electrolyte drinks, including vegan and gluten-free options. Finisher rewards include a medal and an event t-shirt, with hot food served at the finish line at Otley Cricket Club. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
