About the race
Tinto Hill Race is an A category short hill race that runs up and down Tinto Hill, just south of Lanark. The course is 4.4 miles long and includes 1500 feet of ascent, and it crosses ground above 2000 feet. Although much of the route follows good paths, the course is unmarked and navigational skill is required.
Race registration takes place at Damn Delicious, Thankerton Camp Farm, Thankerton, Biggar ML12 6PD, where drivers are directed to the shop for registration and parking. Parking is strictly on the shop grounds; parking at the main Tinto Hill car park or on nearby roads is not permitted and may result in removal from the event. Competitors must follow the marked route from the shop through the field and cross the main road only at marshalled crossings.
Entries are online only; there are no entries on the day. Entries open Wednesday 23 September 2026 at 20:00 and close Friday 30 October 2026 at 18:00. The entry fee is £13.00. Withdrawals and substitutions can be processed via SiEntries up to the closing date; refunds are available via SiEntries minus charges up to Monday 26 October.
Competitors must be 16 or older on the day of the race. Mandatory minimum kit includes a waterproof jacket with hood, waterproof overtrousers, hat, gloves, whistle, and a map and compass suitable for navigating the course. Kit checks will be carried out before the race. Runners who retire must report to the nearest marshal and hand in their race number to the organisers.
