Tinto Hill Race

Organised by Carnethy Hill Running Club, this is an A-category short hill race on Tinto Hill. The route is unmarked in places and crosses ground above 2000 feet. The course distance is 4.4 miles with approximately 1500 feet of ascent. Registration, parking and post-race refreshments are at Damn Delicious, Thankerton Camp Farm, Thankerton, Biggar ML12 6PD; parking is strictly on the farm grounds and not at the Tinto public car park or nearby roads. Prize presentation and refreshments, including free soup, take place at the same location.

Entries are online only via SiEntries; entries open 17 September 2025 and close 31 October 2025. Entry fee is £13. Minimum age is 16. Competitors must carry mandatory kit throughout the race: waterproof jacket with hood, waterproof overtrousers, hat, gloves, map and compass suitable for navigation, and a whistle. Suitable fell or equivalent shoes are required; road shoes are not acceptable. Kit checks will be carried out. If a competitor retires they must report to the nearest marshal and hand in their race number to the organisers.

Registration for juniors takes place on the day at the main Tinto Hill car park, with numbers issued from there. Parents may take part in the main race while juniors wait in the finish area.
