The Three Towers Ultra is a long-distance trail event on Saturday 19 September 2026, organised by Tough Trails Ltd. The route crosses the West Pennine Moors, starting at Darwen and visiting three towers: Jubilee, Rivington and Peel. The course is unmarked and runs close to a military firing range. Navigation skills are likely to be useful. The listed venue is the Ranken Arms Pub.

Race details

There are two distance options:

  • 39 miles / 5890 ft elevation / 12 hour time limit
  • 55 miles / 8350 ft elevation / 17 hour time limit

A kit check will be carried out and a kit list will be published. Organisers state that taped-seams waterproof jacket and trousers and a bivi bag will be required. The event includes checkpoints with a variety of food and drinks plus Mountain Fuel gels and snacks. GPS trackers are provided. Finishers receive a medal and all runners receive a buff. Trail fees for National Trust and Natural England are covered and a donation goes to Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.

Entry fees differ by distance and membership status: UKA members and non-members have separate prices for the 39- and 55-mile options. Entries open 21 October 2025 and close 28 August 2026.
