Event overview

The Three Towers Ultra is an off-road ultra running event on Saturday 19 September 2026. It runs across the West Pennine Moors, starting at Darwen and visiting three towers: Jubilee, Rivington and Peel. The course is unmarked and runs close to a military firing range, so participants should keep to the path. The event is organised by Tough Trails and is based at the Ranken Arms Pub.

Race details

There are two distance options:

  • 39 miles - 5890 ft elevation gain - 12 hour time limit
  • 55 miles - 8350 ft elevation gain - 17 hour time limit

The organisers will carry out a kit check and will publish a kit list. GPS trackers will be used on the course. Guided recce routes will be organised before the event. Checkpoints will provide a variety of food and drinks, including Mountain Fuel gels and snacks. Finishers receive a medal and all runners receive a buff. Trail fees for National Trust and Natural England are covered and a donation will be made to Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.
